Hi. I am no expert, but apparently there are no plans to re-introduce it any time soon (like this year). It was a clinical trial and that trial has now come to an end. They are in the phase of reporting and assessing and you know how long government bureaus take with their red tape! I have been advised that it may be 2013 or 2014 before it becomes available main******. It is currently still available but only for people with proven X linked diseases.

Have they found any negative affects from microsort that you're aware of? I have read somewhere that the embryos can be damaged in the process??

The rates of Microsort success (very few pg and then opposites to boot) has been pretty low so you would be better off doing IVF/PGD anyway if there was any way to do so.

Some people have had concerns that teh sperm sorting process may be harmful to sperm DNA.

AS is right from what I have been told.
My IVF doctors told me last year that Microsort is really not safe or recommended. They use dyes and laser's that cannot be safe to the sperm and can be damaging to the dna. From what I have heard, after what they do to the sperm to sort them -- you would not want those sperm to fertilize your egg. Or let's put it this way, you really don't know the effect it could have -- no one does because it has not been around for that long.
If you really desire ht for gender - then ivf with pgd is the most reliable and the safest way to go.
