Thanks for posting this. I have to tell you I am not surprised. I think a lot of swayers who take Calcium supps probably get the ones with vitamin D. Vit. D helps absorption of Calcium. I am on a mission to get my Vit. D levels down!! I live in a place where it's still sunny in winter (So. Calif.) and I have been extra strict on wearing sunscreen so I can limit my vit. D.

When I was swaying for #3 I took Calcium (with D), magnesium, Vit. C and a prenatal. It was July and I was out in the sun all day every day with my boys. I conceived another boy.

Would this be true for men too, then? My DH is taking calcium and magnesium - will this be raising his T levels??

Not only that but IGD and FGD TELL you to take Vit. D to aid in calcium absorption, so that is why a lot of people are taking it. But we don't even know that IF cal-mag sway, that we even WANT them to be absorbed into the bones or floating around free.

Re DH and cal-mag, when nicoler added up the DH taking cal-mag vs. DH not taking cal mag, there was no difference in the two groups (I think it was 68% vs. 70%). So that makes me think it makes no difference whether DH takes them or not. I can tell you this much - my DH did NOT take them and actually has become a little lactose intolerant between DS 4 and this baby (he normally drinks a FGD level of milk daily and eats a shocking amoutn of ice cream a day) so it was also the least amount of cal-mag he ever got as well as the least amount that I ever got.

RE Dh and testosterone, some evidence seems to indicate that while testosterone can sway blue for DH, it's really sperm numbers and health that really and truly matter. (higher but still normal testosterone can = higher sperm count, but not always. Some guys have sky high T from steroids but low sperm count and still have more daughters.)

Thanks for your reply Atomic! I'm sorry I'm just seeing this now (this reply notification got caught in my spam filter, and I just saw it in there now).

Anyway...what would be your gut feeling then on the DH taking cal/mag supps? Well, let me back up and ask you this first: what exactly is cal/mag for the DH supposed to do, when trying to sway pink? And do you think it's beneficial for DH to take them, or no? I'm totally convinced that *I* don't want to take cal/mag for my sway, but I'm not sure if I should have my DH drop them.

ETA: Especially if mag raises free testosterone...I'm really wondering if DH taking cal/mag would do more harm than good.

The cal-mag is supposed to create "ions" in semen and also make X and Y sperm charged electrically, but the idea that X and Y sperm are differently electrically charged has been debunked.

I don't think it's beneficial for DH to take them - before I saw those stats that Nicole found I was willing to entertain the possibility that ~maybe~ like zinc, boron, lead, and some other minerals, high dose cal or mag ~might~ harm sperm count or quality somehow (in one of the few studies that seem to support the FGD in a very straightforward fashion - in rats - the males were also given the cal-mag along with the female rats). But the stats were perfectly the same between the women whose husbands had taken the cal-mag and those that hadn't.
