I have one daughter and two sons. I felt great during all my pregnancies and never had any morning sickness at all. I actually felt like myself only tired. All of my pregnancies felt pretty much the same. My mom did note that when I was pregnant with my daughter that I was very moody/and had a short temperament. I feel very fortunate especially seeing what some of my friends go through.

I did not have horrible ms with any, but it was definitely worse with my girls. With my DS I was fine as long as I was constantly eating. The minute I became hungry I felt sick. With the girls I felt yucky even when I ate. I never threw up just didn't feel well.

I hesitate to share this because I worry that people will read too much into it. Feeling "sicker" with DS 3 is one of the main reasons I ended up having such bad GD with him.
My mom NEVER had one iota of morning sickness with any pg and she has girls and a boy. She used to think morning sickness was psychological.
I didn't have more sickness with this baby but I have had DIFFERENT sickness.
With all the boys' pg it started at 5-6 weeks and lasted thru 13-14 weeks.
I was terribly sick with DS 1 (threw up every day 1-2 times in the morning but always felt better as the day went on)
Not very sick at all with DS 2 (was queasy in mornings but sucked on Jolly Ranchers and felt better as day went on)
Sick again with DS 3, all day every day and had to eat every hour or two to keep from feeling terrible.
Sick again with DS 4 all day every day and had to eat every hour or two. Also had terrible diarrhea for several weeks during the first tri.
With all the boys I had strong cravings esp. for tomato, and mild aversions to food where something wouldn't sound good but I could eat anything.
Now with this pg:
Overall, I am LESS sick than with the boys.
My sickness started very early, like 3 weeks and it is STILL going on at 20 weeks. If anything, it's getting worse, not better. I threw up last night for the first time in the pg!!!
I was rarely if ever sick in the morning. Instead I often feel sick after eating, with the boys I felt better after eating.
I gag really really super easy so anytime I cough or brush my teeth, I retch (that is what made me throw up last night.)
I have strong food aversions where I really CAN'T eat certain foods, especially garlic.
Tomato stuff is repulsive to me
I have very little appetite and have not gained as much weight as I did with the boys.
I had the same thing I had with DS 4 with the weeks of diarrhea in the first tri but worse. like 6-8 times a day it was awful
My cravings are SERIOUSLY strong and have been almost all for "boy" foods like mustard. Things that seem like "girl" foods like fruit did not taste good.

Oh and my oldest son said he thinks I've been in a way way way better mood with this pg.

I was way sick all day with DD1 from 5wks till 16wks, and then mildly sick with DD2 from about 6wks until 14wks or so, but I controlled it much better the second time around. I wouldn't read too much into it.....everybody on the planet Earth told me I was probably having a boy because I had much less ms with #2, and I heard millions of stories of ms where gender didn't matter.

Well, I'm one person who hopes the OWT is wrong - for me, at least. This pregnancy I haven't really felt sick at all - only first thing in the morning until I've eaten something. I haven't thrown up at all and hardly ever even gag. I've had no food aversions and eat everything and anything in sight .
My m/s was worst with my twins - I threw up religiously twice a day from about 8 weeks until 13 weeks. With ds3 it wasn't bad at all, but I was a little nauseous from about 6 weeks until 9 weeks. My mw was worried when I told her my m/s had disappeared so early and suddenly, but the little guy was fine.
So, this is definitely the easiest pregnancy so far m/s wise. I'll know next week whether I'm having a boy or girl....

I have two daughters, with my first I had sever MS starting at 6 weeks till 13 weeks I lost 13 lbs, couldn't keep anything down, tons of headaches and always tired.
My second one, I was tired some but now whole a lot, never threw up , ate everything , gained a lot of weight in the first few weeks, thought she was a boy for sure, well not true both are girls and prego symptoms were totally the opposite.

Both my DS' pg were totally different to each other, so I dont put much faith in this!
With DS1: I put on 13kg and had loads of fluid (esp in face), I had strong food cravings, NO morning sickness whatsoever. Not even one queasy feeling, at all. Very lucky.
With DS2: I had hypremisis (severe MS). I was throwing up from 8 weeks until 27 weeks. In my 8th week, I was so sick, I lost 4kg over a weekend. I was hospitalised twice due to dehydration. I only ended up putting on 3-4kg the whole pg. I looked awesome, felt good, apart from the spewing, not much appetite and no cravings!
I wish you your DG :)

I really, really think it is a lot less about the baby's gender and a lot more about what your body is needing/craving. :)

I have 2ds and my pregnancies were quite different so I was convinced I was having a girl with ds2.
Similar to Deux Bleus I had hyperemesis with ds1, I was sick for about 25-30 weeks out of the pregnancy.particularly at the start I was throwing up over 10 times a day, I literally would throw up anything I put in my mouth. I finally worked out that I could stomach Cheezels and Fruit Tingles and that is all I lived on for months. A little bit gross, but knowing that I would vomit up whatever i put into my mouth, I would only eat food that tasted ok bringing up again and that wasn't painful or difficult to vomit; I learned very quickly that milk was a definite NO! And apple and bread would get stuck in my throat, so I would eat things like chocolate, lemonade, and most smooth foods. As soon as my DP walked into the room or leaned in to kiss me I would literally have to run to the bathroom, The sight of him made me vomit, I know, poor thing!! The vomiting was so bad that I had to be hospitalised, i couldnt even sip water or chew ice chips without throwing it up! it stopped for a little after that but towards the end of the pregnancy I became sick again. It took such a toll that I weighed less at 9 months pregnant than I did before I fell pregnant, so I actually lost weight during the pregnancy!
Ds2 I only threw up a handful of times but felt quite queasy and gag a bit in the first trimester, usually felt better after I ate though. By 2nd trimester I was absolutely fine.
I wouldn't put too much weight into the concept of gender and ms either. And even if there is a trend, there are always exceptions.

I was mildly ill with both boys. Queasiness from 6 weeks through 11 weeks with DS1, Queasiness from 5 weeks through 11 weeks with DS2. Eating something helped the "carsicky" feelings. I didn't really throw up, although my gag reflex was a lot more sensitive.
A good friend of mine had massive morning sickness with her son (she's one of those who lost weight during first trimester) and felt much better in her pregnancy with her daughter.

Every single one of my boys was different. DS2 was BY FAR the worst. I vommitted so violently that I'd pee on myself! Awesome. W/ DS1 my sickness started at 8 weeks and lasted until 26 weeks. W/ DS2 it started at 5 weeks and left at 14ish weeks, with DS3, it started at 6 weeks or so and lasted until about 15 weeks. I've had no veins in eyes, veins in eyes, some pregnancies with acne, some with out. Sometimes my hair would grow faster, some times it wouldn't. I craved all different items all the time. Gained 17 pounds w/ DS1, 35 pounds w/ DS2, and 55 pounds w/ DS3. Let's HOPE I don't continue this doubling trend b/c even if I get a DD, I'll have to go back on the LE diet!!! LOL!

^^I will say that I did always feel better while eating...so I think with each pregnancy, I learned to eat ALL the time...hence the massise increase in gains :) No sickness yet with this one. I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow.

2 DD, two completely different pregnancies. I mean NO crossover symptoms from one to the next.
DD1 - teensy bit of mild nausea in the 1st trimester, insane weight gain and no other symptoms
DD2 - every symptom on the planet - severe vomiting & nausea the entire pregnancy, weight loss, body rashes, migraines etc.
They are uncomparable.

I've got a good friend who has a dd and is currently 30weeks pregnant with a ds and she says that her symptoms including sickness, food cravings, tiredness, etc have been exactly the same. I think you just have to treat each pregnancy as a separate journey with a new individual bean inside, who will have it's own personal affect on your body. Trying to determine gender by comparing symptoms is not at all accurate - its a new individual, so of course you're going to have a reaction to the pregnancy that's individual to that baby...sometimes it will be similar to other pregnancies and sometimes it will be starkly different. There's really no comparing.

Great advice Lala - not only is baby an individual but your own body is in a different place with different hormones and nutritional needs than it ever had before.

Lol Littlemiss, I know! I did the same thing. I was convinced my ds2 was a girl because I was soo sick with ds1 and hardly at all with ds2. I thought how could they possibly be the same gender when they are having such different affects on my body? But here i am with two sons. It's hard not to compare though. X

The MS was way worse with DD! With DS I had moderate nausea from 6 weeks to 15 weeks. I did not take anything for it. It was more of an annoyance than anything. With DD the nausea was what clued me in to the fact that I may be pregnant at 4 weeks, and I had to take Diclectin to function right up until the day DD was born.

Well, now that I know this babe is a girl, I'll repost. I had very, very little m/s this time - only the very slightest queasiness first thing in the morning until I ate. It has been my easiest pregnancy so far.
