What is left and what is right? Is it like the mirror picture? I'm asking about abdominal u/s.

Also, if the baby's head is on the right, does that mean the baby is on the right or on the left, I mean what part of the body determines the position, head or legs?

I think it depends on how the u/s machine is tuned, but I had an abdominal scan, my dr. placed the thingy on the left side of my belly, I remember because I could feel the pressure against babies´head and asked her if that was the head, and on the pic I have in front of me the head is on the right, so it is a mirror image in this case.
I think in the second trimester the baby is still swimming around freely, so it could have head on the right and 5 seconds later turn all the way.

it varies - they can flip the picture at the touch of a button. You'd have to ask them at the time to know for sure.

Thank you guys! I didn't ask anything bcos I was crushed with 'it's a girl!' announcement :(

When the baby is too big to move around, what determines left or right position?

Maybe in the last trimester baby is more in the vertical position, so it's obvious is it right or left?

maybe they go with the machine default at that stage, but you can tell by feeling your bump where the baby is by which bit is hard/softer?

Yes, you're right, from what I've managed to find online ( not much) it seems they go with the machine default
I (want to) believe it feels harder on my right, I guess that is the bubba's head and torso position and legs are the softer part?

I am not sure, i always found it difficult to know where my babys head was just by feeling.

Yes My stomach was harder on the right side and by the time I was 30 weeks and he was head down he wasnt going anywhere, could feel his back on the right and i could feel him kick alot on the left.. Just woundering too tho cant remember if I am right but arent boys more fidgety I used to go to the baby ward a bit with a few preg problems and when they would hook me to the machine they could tell he moved alot and i "think" they said they can tell the dif sometimes between boys and girls from how much they move??
