Late ovulation, implantation and hcg levels

My cycle seemed to be out of whack this month and I ovulated on day 19 or 20 which led to a bfp unexpectedly.
I am wondering about hcg levels and late implantation. They are not as high as other pregnancies at the same time if I take the date from my last Af. Would the late ovulation and hence late implantation be effecting the hcg?

What dpo did you get your bfp to think you experienced late implantation?

All pregnancy hcg levels will differ. It's more whether they double every 48 hours in early pregnancy than the actual number that usually indicates if there's a potential reason to be worried. Can you share your hcg results and days between?

Yes, that's right. You will not have as high of HCG levels when you ovulate late.

This is because HCG levels double from the start of your pregnancy. It is meaningless when your period comes, that has nothing to do with your HCG levels. HCG does not start to rise till pregnancy happens.

Your HCG till you are pregnant will be somewhere from 0-5. Then, it starts to double. So depending on when you ovulate, conceive, baby implants, you can go for weeks or even months for peopl with long cycles, with HCG of 0 or thereabouts.

Then, the HCG starts to double.

If you started off with HCG on the lower end (normal) it goes like this:

    0 to 1
    1 to 2
    2 to 4
    4 to 8
    8 to 16
    16 to 32

and so on doubling every 48-72 hours till somewhere around 1200, when it slows down but will still keep increasing.
Then between week 8 and 11 when it's reached its peak it will just kind of hang out there.

Or if you started off with HCG on the higher end, 5 (also totally normal, as is everything inbetween 0 nd 5):

    5 doubles to 10
    10 to 20
    20 to 40
    40 to 80
    80 to 160
    160 to 320

You can be at roughly the same point of gestation and have HGC levels that are like 10x higher in some pregnancies even without the delayed ovulation because you may start some pregnancies with higher HCG levels than others.

So yes, I do think your HCG is lower this pregnancy due to the delayed ovulation but it can also be in part because different pregnancies start off at different HCG levels and you never know where you started off.

As long as it's doubling appropriately that's what counts.

    Thanks Atomic
Do you think lower hcg levels correlate with boy pregnancies and higher hcg with girl pregnancies as per the Study done in Israel?

Late ovulation, implantation and hcg levels

We had an whoops on day 18 of my cycle so I think I must have ovulated day 19. Because we had the whoops we dtd one more time on on day 21 of my cycle as I usually ovulate on day 12 we never dreamed of bfp as I also usually have a standard 28 day cycle with the longest it’s ever been 30 days and the shortest 24 days. (with my DD we dtd on day 9) We didn’t dtd at all the rest of the month so no possibility I got pregnant or was pregnant from the previous month.
My bfp test was so dark and was done at day 11 dpo so my bloods as follows
    Day 14 dpo 476
    Day 16 dpo 1036
I am hoping and praying for a second bundle of pink especially as this cycle seems so out of whack. I have also become very girl friendly in my approach to life as I have been skipping breakfast, eating low cal and low nutrient food, drinking alcohol and using laxatives to lose 7kg. Please send me all your pink baby dust! Thanks x

That is averages, like height. While height can be somewhat predictive of gender - like a 5-2 person is likely a woman, and a 6-4 person is likely a man...but you can't be sure of that, there are WNBA players and jockeys, after all. PLUS, most fall into the midrange. If you have a person who's 5-6,7,8, you have no idea what their gender is really. Even 5-4 and 6 ft is very much open for possibilities, if you have Michael J Fox, for instance, and Giselle Bunchen, that kind of thing. So while there is some science there, it's just not terribly helpful science, unfortunately.

This is especially true since many of us do not know what day we ovulated, and so our HCG levels can vary quite a lot on that basis. Only a few days of difference between when we think we O and when we actually do can make a huge difference in the HCG level.

And for future reference and for anyone reading this please no one ever ever use laxatives to lose weight for swaying. That is not safe and is not approved by me. You can literally die from using laxatives that way (your electrolytes can get out of whack, which can happen when swaying anyway) or can set yourself up for lifetime of health issues including chronic long term constipation. No laxatives please.
