So Ive heard some say they can or will just "Duggar it out" until they get their DG. I personally like the Duggars, although I don't agree with all their choices I am thankful that they provide some wholesome television and that they have the courage to live out what they personally believe. But I am not here to talk about whether or not their family values are right or wrong, rather I want to use their family as a case study for gender selection. ***Keep in mind this is all purely my speculation just for FUN***
So they have 19 kids, 20 if you count the recent miscarriage, and oddly enough it's an even split: 10 girls and 10 boys. So in theory, if you have enough children, you will get an even number eventually! However, I doubt there are any of us who want 20 children. So let's look at the order of the kids:
1. Boy (this could be luck of the draw, who nows why #1 was a boy)
2/3. Boy/Girl Twins (this is statistically the most likely twin combination so once again, no real surprise here.)
4. Girl
5. Girl
6. Girl (Three girls in a row!! And each pregnancy is less than 18 months apart, in one case I think just 13 months apart. So she was probably breast-feeding when all these girls were conceived. She was also probably not getting much sleep and not eating too well as she's got so many kids so close together. And I'd be willing to bet they weren't having many attempts as they were so tired from so many kids to watch and mouths to feed. So it's really no small wonder she's got all these girls)
7. Boy
8. Boy (Next comes 2 boys. Maybe the kids are getting old enough they're helping out. Maybe this was a season of her life she became more Martha about things to had more attempts)
9. Girl (this could just be random luck)
Now here is where it gets interesting: 6 boys in a row!
10./11. Boy/ Boy Twins (statistically less likely than girl/boy twins)
12. Boy
13. Boy
14. Boy
15. Boy (what happened here? Well these boys are farther apart for some reason. closer to 18 months and I think there is 2 years at one point. The girls are older and probably helping out quite a bit, so there is less parenting responsibility so she may be eating much healthier, exercising a bit, maybe having more attempts. She also steadily gained weight during this time. THis is also when they started filming their shows, so maybe this added some martha stress to her life)
Now this is just as interesting to me, 5 girls in a row!
16. Girl
17. Girl
18. Girl
19. Girl
20. Girl (These girls are very close together, two of them are just 11 months apart! I would think that she's getting used to so many kids and is getting her signature "Mary" personality as she is quite a laid back lady today. She is also much older, late 30's and 40's. She is probably very busy with all the older ones getting engaged and married and grandkids so maybe less attempts. She also talks about how she started weight watchers to lose the weight and learned the importance of portion control, aka reduced calories, fat and protein, aka LE diet. And how she began walking 4 miles every day, which takes about 60 minutes, and is exactly the intense cardio we talk about here.)
So there you go. While some of the kids genders are probably just luck of the draw, I see strong indications she was unwillingly swaying for at least the last 5 girls and likely for the 6 boys before that. Hope you enjoyed!
