Ultrasound done, new levels of panic have set in.

I just came back from my ultrasound appointment. It took forever, and they took 7 vials of blood for testing, but not my Panorama yet. That's happening Monday.

Soooo, there's only one in there. That's good, since I was worried about the possibility of twins. There's a heartbeat and everything looks good.

That's the end of the good news. That was the worst quality ultrasound I've ever had and it just looked like a blob. I've gained 7 lbs since my BFP, which has me panicking, and worse, the baby's measuring larger than it should. It should be measuring 8w 4 d, and instead it measured 9w 1d. I know this is within the margin of error, but I recently read that girls tend to develop slower, and so they measure smaller in the beginning. So, this bub should be measuring exactly on point or possibly a little behind if it's a girl. Ugh, I'm more convinced than ever that this is another boy. I always measure a little ahead, and I've only carried boys in the past, so this fits the pattern. I hope I'm wrong, and that I'm not picking up weight like crazy for nothing, but I'm not counting on it.

At this stage there's not much any ultrasound can tell. You still have all the chances to have a little girl in there, don't panic (easier said than done, I know). At least the Panorama is coming and then you'll be able to let go of the uncertainty and just enjoy being pregnant. Crossing my fingers for you x

This post is already a bit dated. I've calmed down a LOT, and I'm trying to be more zen about this whole thing. It is what it is at this point, and I just need to allow the information to come in without judgement.

Putting on lots of weight?? That's a girl. I managed twin boys without that much actual weight gain (the swelling in my feet and hands was dreadful and my belly I looked enormous i.e. 9mths pregnant and 6mths and all that). But with my DD - OMG. By butt spread out, weight went on everywhere - even my legs and I was being so careful with food etc. Am convinced it was the damn girly hormones. Still have 4-5kgs to lose and she's 18mths old!

If the ultrasound wasn't that great and was fuzzy then the measurements can be off too. Also if you or DH is tall it can make a huge difference. My 3 kids have all measured days ahead (DD as well) and their estimated weights have all been much higher than at birth. They've all been just under 7lbs at birth (twins were born at 37.5wks and DD at 36.5wks). All of them were 50cm long. So their estimated weights were close to 8lbs. My OB explained that bc their limbs were long (thanks to DH) their estimated weights were much higher but they were skinny little things.

I hope you're right, MM! I gained 27 lbs with my first (was pretty overweight though) and 33 lbs with my second while working out hardcore and watching what I ate. I have to admit, lots of weight gain would be totally worth it for a pinkie!

DH's not tall, he's 5'7". I'm 5'1", nut I'm supposed to be 5'7" because I had my spine fused before I was done growing. I have uncles that are over 6', but no one in our immediate families are tall.
