I so hope it works for you this time around! I'm sure you'll have a much better chance with the change of protocol and I'm sure you're doing all the right things to make good quality eggs. I'll keep in touch to let you know my progress and I'm looking forward to hearing all about your journey!!
Thanks for taking an interest in my story, you have been very kind.

It's such a long time to go to the states! Are you taking the boys? It will be a lovely holiday too. Are you planning to put more than 1 embryo back in? We actually didn't want twins (only want 3 kids) so we took a massive risk in putting two in. I thought putting two in would at least give us a good chance of having one and a small chance of twins.

Sounds like your protocol will be much better this time around. It's really hard for the Docs to know what's going to work for you without you having done IVF before..they pretty much have a standard protocol for everyone. My Doc initially wanted to give us a much higher dose of gonal F and wrote to him saying that it would be too high given my response in previous cycles..so he lowered the dose (and I still ended up in hospital with OHSS)..cant imagine how sick I would have been on a higher dose.
  4. Hi K - Good news, saw one sac with a heartbeat on ultrasound today 5w+6d. Very happy. Still in hospital but should be going home tonight or tomoz morning. Now we have our fingers crossed for the rest of the pregnancy. Still very bloated with enlarged ovaries but it will be bearable and should only last for a few more weeks.

I really think that taking the vitamins may have made the difference with the quality of our embryos, we also stimulated for 3 days longer than usual...I think that gave us a few more mature eggs. It's interesting at HRC they didn't write down the quality of the embryos, they only gave the stage of development. As far as I understand, hatchinig blastocysts give you the best chance of a pregnancy. It sounds like the one that you had put back wasn't as developed. Usually at Monash they will only put back Early, Expanding and Expanded blastocycts if they are of decent quality i.e minimal fragmentation etc.
  5. PS - I'll keep you posted on the US results
  6. Hi K,

I hope you are well. I'm still in hospital with OHSS, doesnt seem to be getting any better.. I had 6 litres of fluid drained from my abdomen yesterday and I'm feeling a lot better.. Good news is that the pregnancy is still hanging on, I had a scan at 5 weeks but the results were inconclusive as it was a bit too early..however, there looked to be two sacs there at this stage. I'll have another scan at 6 weeks.

You must be looking forward to you next cycle! I'm surprised you didn;t achieve a pregnancy with 24 eggs, you must have been gutted. Hopefuly this time you'll have much more success. I did IVF in March this year at Monash IVF and got 20 eggs and only one good one to transfer with no frozens (and no BFP). It was really dissapointing considering we had two successful pregnancies from our 1st IVF cycle. Sometimes, the cycles just don't go well for whatever reason.. Hopefully your next cycle will be your good one!

    Take care

  7. Hi there!

I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I've actually been in hospital since saturday with OHSS! I'm still pregnant at this stage and the OHSS is not really resolving. The Dr's think I'll probably be here for at least a few more weeks. I'm not in much pain but I look like I'm 8 months pregnant and I'm very uncomfortable. It's a very frustrating situation to be in. The only thing good at this point is that the pregnancy is hanging on, I'll have a scan next week to check the embryo/embryos... I think only one has implanted based on my beta numbers....our plan was only for one more anyway.

When do you start your lupron cycle? Why did he decide to change it?
  8. My protocol was the antagonist protocol:
    150 gonal F; 75 Menapur - I stimulated for 11 days, on the last 3 the Gonal F was dropped to 75. Trigger was 10,000 HGC. 20 eggs, 16 mature, 12 fertilised. 12 biopsed, 6 xy 6 xx, 5 genetically normal (24 probe) 2xy 3xx. 2 XX hatching blastocycts transferred.

I starting taking suppliments in April: Fish oil (with DHA), CoenzQ, ginger, VitD (always on), folate..

    I think that's all!

    Was your experience similar?

    I'll keep you posted... x
  9. Hi My3boys - I've had to post on here again! Can't private message you .. Here's what I wrote:

    Hi,

Yes, the 2ww is pretty bad! However, I did a test this morning and it came up positive.. It's definatly not the trigger shot as I tested 2 days ago and it was negative. So now I just have my fingers crossed...there's a long way to go yet!

I did like HRC, Dr Kolb was fantastic and has a great bedside manner. I have nothing bad to say about him or the clinic. I've done 2 previous cycles with Monash IVF and it's quiet different. At Monash, you really only deal with the nurses and what ever Dr is on call or rostered on for that list... I really liked the fact that your Dr (Dr Kolb) is the one and only Dr you deal with for all of the scans, the retrieval and transfer. I really think that makes a difference.

We got back from the states on Tuesday..

More to come (I can only write 1000 words!)
  10. Hi My3boys,

I tried to send you a private message but it won't let me (I have to write 5 post before it will allow me to do this). And I can only write 1000 words on this message board! Anyway, I'll have to shorten the orignal message I tried to send you.

From 12 embryos: 6 boys, 6 girls; 5 normal embryos; of the 5 normal ones 2 boys and 3 girls. We had 2 normal hatching blastocycts transferred. Just the wait now, should know by the weekend!

I'll keep you posted. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the cycle.
    Take care,
    Polyethane.
