Mirena removal, how long til bfp and what gender
Hi ladies,
I'm having my mirena removed today after having it in for 18 months, in preparation for a blue sway in April. I would have liked to have had it removed earlier than this and given more time for it to completely clear out the system but it hasn't worked like that unfortunately.
Anyway, in light of that I'm curious to hear from both pink and blue swayers who had the mirena removed and have since gotten their bfp. I'm wondering:
- how soon after it's removal did you start ttc?
- how many months after removal did you get your bfp?
- if known, did you conceive a girl or boy?
Thanks

I got pregnant immediately after having my Mirena removed and I had a beautiful, healthy little boy but I also had a scary subchorionic hemorrhage (a little edge of the placenta separated) and bled for much of my first trimester. There isn't data to support this but one of the ob/gyns I saw said that anecdotally she saw more miscarriages in women who had just had a Mirena removed. I would recommend waiting a few months.

Hello! Here’s my experience with IUDs- Mirena removed Jan 2015, used condoms after because I didn’t want to be pregnant for our wedding in April. Once we stopped using protection I got pregnant quickly in May. Had a boy. This time around I had a copper iud and had it removed in October 2017. Didn’t get pregnant the first cycle but conceived the second cycle, in November. I don’t know gender yet but will soon. No problems, it’s actually my easiest pregnancy out of 3. I can update in a couple weeks with gender if you’d like. I haven’t had any doctors tell me to wait to conceive, my current doctor made sure I was okay getting pregnant immediately because she’s seen no issues with fertility or miscarriage with her patients. Good luck to you!

Thanks for your experience ladies. I just wanted some reassurance that it's possible to get a boy soon after having the mirena removed. You've definitely given me some hope.

Yes it's totally possible. Coming off the birth control pill (which works the same as Mirena, for our purposes) we got 10 of 25 boys even with otherwise pink sways. It is in no way a magic bullet not at all.
Atomic, this may sound crazy but I’ve been reading about moon phases… I have a ‘red moon cycle’ currently which I didn’t used to have. Meaning my period is coinciding with the full moon. From...
