    Blue Supplements

Sorry if there is already a thread on this (I'm sure there is but I can't find it)..

DAILY: I take a prenatal vitamin, 1200 MG fish oil and 2400 Mcg folic acid (prenatal included).
I also take 2 tums daily from Af to O and mucinex (1200 MG guaifenesin) the morning of attempt.

DAILY: Dh takes men's one a day multivitamin, 1200 MG fish oil, 500 Mcg vitamin B12 and 400 IU vitamin e.

Does this look good and how long should we be on the supplements before ttc??

Why the Tums only AF-O? How many mg of Tums?

Let's cut the fish oil to every other day for you. Hubby continue at same dose.

Hubby drop Vit. E. There is already more than enough in the men's one a day. I would have him drop b12 too but that is not as critical as ditching the Vit. E. That may actually harm sperm health for him to take that much.

Are you guys taking probiotics? If not, you should!

The tums are ultra strength 1000 and my OB suggested I take 2 from Af to O because it would make the vagina less acidic. Although I know know that ph is not an issue, I figured it couldnt hurt to do this anyway for the calcium. Should I be taking them daily?

The multivitamin dh talked has 22.5 IU vitamin e, that's all he needs?

Should he also drop the B12? Because trust me he would be happy to hear that lol!! I read on IG that he should be taking it daily because of how much caffeine he drinks but if you have other feelings about it, I would much rather take your advise.

What probiotic would you recommend? And is there anything else you feel is important to add? I've found a lot of posts suggesting vitamin D, but I do get outside quite a bit.

Any advise on biotin? I read online that it metabolites carbs and protein and stabilizes blood sugar..

NO. Stop doing that right away. It doesn't work for swaying (and anyone who believes in the mineral balancing stuff is breaking into a cold sweat right now reading this) and that is too high a level of calcium intake for safety. Too much calcium will give you kidney stones and may be deposited into your arteries and cause heart disease later in your life. Plus, taking them off and on like that is never a good idea because when you're getting a lot, your body starts excreting excess. Then you stop taking them, and your body doesn't "understand" that and keeps excreting it only now there isn't much coming in so you can mess up your electrolyte levels doing that. If you want to take the Tums, just take 1 of them every day.

Yes, that is all he needs. Megadose Vit. E has been shown to mess with cell division (may be why it helps prevent cancer) and that is the LAST thing you want when you want your hubby to be making lots of sperm (which are the result of cell division)

He is already getting enough B12 in his multivitamin. More of these things is not always better.

Vit. D should be in your multivitamin, right?

Biotin at 100% DRV (no more than that) is fine

Great, I will tell him no more vitamin e and no more b12! Yes there is vitamin D in my prenatal, good point i will probably just not take tums at all since my prenatal takes care of calcium as well. And ill get us a good probiotic too.. any that you prefer specifically? Also, we have been taking the list of vitamins at the top of this post for 6 weeks and our first attempt is in 4 weeks, do you think that's enough to undo any possible negative effects? And is 4 weeks enough time to be on the correct supplements, as I'm already 2 weeks and 4 pounds in on the HE diet...

Just get any name brand that you like and can easily find. yes it's fine, just wean off of them now (don't just drop them, wean back over the span of a couple weeks)

I would try cutting back on carbs (so grains, potato, juice) to see if we can slow that weight gain now.

What is your heart telling you to do? Try? or not?

Well hubby is the one who was taking two vitamins he shouldn't have been, so i dont know the level of importance when it comes to our sway... he is 27 if that makes a difference of how fast his body can recover from any possible side effects.

I would really like to try sooner rather than later because I want to keep our children really close in age. Our girls are almost exactly 2 years apart and even if I get pregnant now, the new baby would be 2 and a half years younger than our youngest daughter (putting 4 and a half years between oldest and youngest).

But if 4 weeks is not enough time on the correct supplements, I would rather wait longer and give my sway the best possible chance rather than rush it and get a third girl and never fill that empty place in my heart that longs for a son.

But if I decide to wait, do I stick to the diet and just skip ttc next month and shoot for July? (Which puts me at a total of 10 weeks on the HE diet before my first attempt) Or do I take a break from the diet and then have to start over with the 6 weeks when I'm okay to ttc?

Also Atomic, this is what Google says:

"For adults older than 18 years, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women, the maximum dose is 1,000 milligrams daily (or 1,500 IU)."

So with hubby taking 400 IU (plus 22.5 in his multivitamin) he's still well below 1,500 so he should be okay right?

Sorry I'm not doubting anything you are telling me, I'm just trying to find out more so I know whether or not I feel comfortable ttc next month.

I don't either. I can't test all this stuff, I am just expressing my theoretical concerns. 4 weeks should be enough as long as you've been on diet 6 weeks. I would go for it, personally.

I understand what Google says. I don't want you guys taking the max dose or anything approaching that. Vit. E messes with cell division and that is why I like you guys to stick with no more than 100% DRV (and he'll be likely getting some from the foods he eats as well.) I think 4 weeks is enough to get it sorted out anyway though.
