    SSRI's and DH's sperm quality

Hi ladies! DH has been on an SSRI (celexa) since October 2016, which is around the time that we started TTC. I looked online earlier and saw that SSRI's can significantly reduce men's fertility and sperm quality. I'm starting to get nervous that maybe part of the reason that I haven't had a pregnancy stick is partly because of my egg quality or thin uterine lining, but also possibly due to the quality of his sperm (he needs to take some of the blame, right?!). I'm naturally a worrier, but now I'm starting to stress about possible birth defects, etc. due to the SSRI/poor sperm quality. Curious if anyone has had a DH on an SSRI when they were TTC and that has gone on to have a healthy child? Would love any reassurance that it won't cause issues, especially since I finished my last day of Femara today and I'm so hopeful for this cycle!

My Dh has been on/is on different meds. He takes painkillers every day which can cause infertility also.
He was taking antidepressants etc when we conceived dd5. I was beginning to wonder if the painkillers are why we still haven't had any luck this time round, as he has been on them much longer at this stage.

Yes, tons of people's husbands are on these medications and go on to have healthy pregnancies. I would say possibly as many as 20% of all my sway plan clients husbands are on some type of SSRI.

Hi atomic! So sorry I somehow missed your response! What are your thoughts on SSRI's decreasing sperm count?

So not enough where it could be him and not me? I'm thinking of asking him to get a SA, but not if you think it's not incremental enough to make a difference in ttc. He's 41 and been on Celexa about 9 months.

Yes it is enough to prevent conception for some men. Not a lot, but some. I can't know from here. I still think you did not have some viable attempts at first and so it's really NOT been as long as it feels like.

I know, Atomic...just getting so antsy as the age gap continues to widen between a possible 3rd. And I have to blame DH for something! If this cycle doesn't work, I think I'll ask for a SA just for peace of mind.

Atomic, I wanted to update that I (finally) got a bfp late last week. Went in for betas today and they are doubling on time, so I'm hopeful that this is my third baby girl! Thank you SO very much for all of your help over the past months!!!
