Steroids and arthritis medication and gender conceived
Hi current and past swayers,
Trying to wrap me heads around my odds of success for a potential blue sway in 2019. Atomic suggested that autoimmune diseases (I have rheumatoid arthritis) may sway blue but we haven't really been able to delve into what impact meds for these autoimmune conditions may sway.
I'm currently on prednisolone (steriod) and both plaquenil and sulfasalazine (anti inflammatory) and was wondering whether anyone is on or has been on these or similar drugs and what genders they conceived while on these?
ThanksDD1 (2014)

Just a small hi as I won’t have answers unfortunately..but my mum has severe RA though she had had all her kids before’ the disease declared itself around 40 y.o/started treatments...she had G/B/B before with a m/c between my brothers.
I suspected I had issues but the rheumatologist I saw 2 years ago ruled it out for the time being, but know I may be more’ prone to develop it later.
You are one strong Mumma ! Glad to see you seem a bit better, hope it gets even more so!

Our sway didn’t work for #3 & we had a little oops for #4 but we love them all to bits... not sure if we ever will but somehow hoping we might add blue to the crew, to complete our family, one day...
Fingers crossed for TTC #5 (again) for early 2024!

Thanks LMSM for dropping in. Rheumatologists can be so funny like that sometimes. Mine was convinced I was making it up for the first two sessions and wasn't til she ran some more extensive bloods she found a few things. Meanwhile I could barely walk or move around and my inflation levels were going through the roof. The drugs have it pretty under control, although this heat wave here over Christmas has really flared it up the last fe days. Unfortunately I can't even use myself as an example as it's all been set off post DD2. Your mum is obviously a very strong woman too.

yep exactly what happened to me. Couldn't get them to take me seriously for anything , just treated me like a crazy woman. The doctor was SHOCKED when he looked at my bloodwork revealing the AI disease and then got up and literally ran out of the room at the first opportunity telling me to follow up with a different doctor (!).

I don't have arthritis but I do have an auto-immune platlet disorder and I was taking prednisone when I became pregnant with my son.
It was an unexpected pregnancy so I wasn't swaying or tracking ovulation or anything, but I had been on steroids for about 6 months when I conceived him. I can't remember how many mg of the prednisone they had me taking everyday either but I was just taking that and a multi-vitamin and had a boy!Last edited by SummerHope; January 2nd, 2019 at 05:26 PM.
