Sorry - I pop in and out of the forum now and am not as active as I was when I was swaying, but this is 100% me

I have three girls - DD3 was a sway opposite just like you. And DD2 was a failed shettles - from when I believed timing and one attempt at OPK was the way to go!

All my babies are close in age (5,3 and 1)- I conceived when they were 9 - 12 months for many personal reasons and the last one due to my fertility taking a nosedive - it was now or never for number 4! So we opted for now...

We had our 20 week scan today and also paid for the NIPT (as I wanted to know early and also had some concerns) and our boy has been confirmed by both. What I did differently was...

    1) bought a plan - helped clarify a few things (I’m very much a planner/list maker so helped to have it in writing and to make notes on it etc)

    2) checked all my supps with atomic. I was inadvertently taking supps which could’ve thrown my sway with DD3 without even knowing - my prenatal and other tablets had hidden extras that may not have helped

    3) exercise - this I think was the biggy and the main difference. I exercised 5 times a week - walking twice a week and weights 3 times a week - I just used YouTube in the evening to do a video for 30 mins when the kids were in bed. And I walked twice a week for the school runs. It took a lot of willpower to do it but I do think it’s worth it.

With my first two girls they were a couple of attempts in my fertile window. Number 2 (shettles) was one attempt at OPK - which I obviously now know sways pink! Number 3 and 4 we had probably 5-6 attempts in the fertile window. And for us I think the attempt atomic recommends to catch late OPK also helped.

I used HE diet for both DD3 (failed sway) and this one.

If I think of anything else I’ll add it and let you know.

Good luck - I know how brutal gender disappointment can be. like you I absolutely adore my babies now they are here and wouldn’t change them for the world - I believe I was meant to have three girls and I know I’ll never be lonely when I’m older. But it is so tough to get over, and it makes you feel pretty crappy, especially with all the unhelpful comments (about daddy being outnumbered, it being expensive with girls, the hormones etc etc) a lady in the supermarket actually apologised when I said my third was a girl at about 5 days old and said it was a shame and never give up hope (ie for a boy!) - brutal!!

Just be kind to yourself. I also think if ivf isn’t an option you kinda need to go in anticipating it may be a failed sway and then anything else is a bonus. More to protect yourself than anything else.

Big hugs and keep us posted xxx

Oh and thought I’d add - DH did nothing to help sway as didn’t believe in it. He ate what I cooked in terms of dinner and breakfast, but lunch and snacking I had no control over. He didn’t stop drinking or smoking (but only smokes a couple a day)

The only thing he did willingly do is take the multi-vitimin and supplements I gave him

He did this last time too so I’m not sure DH played a massive role either way xx

Our sway didn’t work for #3 & we had a little oops for #4 but we love them all to bits... not sure if we ever will but somehow hoping we might add blue to the crew, to complete our family, one day...

Fingers crossed for TTC #5 (again) for early 2024!

Did you have DH pull out before your fertile window? This is the part that scares me the most. We just had our third girl four months ago. I know it technically doesn’t matter because I won’t be fertile but I get pregnant very easily so I’m not sure whether to have DH pull out before the fertile window and then get in 3-4 attempts. How old was your youngest DD when you got pregnant with your son? How many attempts do you think y’all had in the fertile window?

I’m following this to get all the advice and information I can. We have three girls too. They are 5,2, and 4 months. My husband is AMAZING with them but I know how much he wants a son. He’s very outdoorsy. He just took a trip this weekend fishing with his dad and I know it makes him dream of the day he can do trips like that with his own son. The comments are the hardest part. They were a lot worse when I was pregnant. So, when I do get pregnant again I doubt we will find out what it is.

Most of us with all boys (myself included) always had unprotected sex out of the fertile window.

It is always up to you of course but I do really think it helps, if you can be careful it isn't even a risk and will only beneft your sway.

Well I've only got one DD but I swayed for my boy, and got him! Akin to the HE diet (Trivers Willard theory) and the sperm meets egg plan worked for us!

@3LL _ thank you so much for detailing this for me – as fellow blue swayer – I know you can appreciate how I appreciate a detailed response
I’m know I'm not going to be able to do much during the days for exercise as I work full time, so am out the door by 7 am and only have time once the kids are in bed and the chores are done – so well after 8pm…it sure will take motivation haha!
I have a board on Pinterest with pics of cute baby boys, blue friendly meals AND before/after of women that did body reformations… to keep me going for the end goal!
I am not sure about my own fertility – my specialist is retiring in a few weeks, and might see if he can send me a request for some basic tests before he goes ^^ I’m 35 next year so will officially be a “geriatric” mum and would love to know where we stand though he knows my cycles aren’t back so likely wont give me the referral now :P I guess maybe the new specialist will! (sorry, I ramble ..oops)
I think it’s amazing that you conceived so quickly and naturally after you having been told your fertility was declining rapidly – AND got your boy.
I’ll be so interested to see the dynamics of how your little man fits in with his big sisters(no doubt will they be besotted and mother him ) – I sometimes worry about a boy after 3 girls might be feeling left out somehow (and hence needing to give him a brother – I really need those twin boys eh? ).
Quick question – what season was it when you conceived? (you’re in the UK are you??) I would have liked to conceive after summer, but that would mean being heavily pregnant IN summer and ain’t doing that again let me tell ya lol so would ideally conceive in August next year (so Due date May ish – just before winter here) … so that vit D3 will be key!

@Teamblue – yay ! Congrats on your littlest lady. Oh how I can understand – exact same situation here, just a 10 months older DD3 – those comments were oh so hard last pregnancy…so most probably going team green next time! ^^
Like you am terrified of BD unprotected before we TTC – I still haven’t got my cycles so am making hubs use condoms because would hate to take any risks (and risk a lone attempt in fertile window) since we don’t know if and when I ovulate (if at all)…it’s the first time it’s taken me so long to get cycles back PP so am almost worrying something is wrong – having said that, DD3 at 14 m.o still nurses heaps, at night especially. In a way, can’t wait to get cycles back so I can track my fertile window and aim for BD outside of fertile days and only BD protected when there is a chance of pregnancy. I almost considered getting a copper IUD put in so that once my cycles do return I would still be protected from pregnancy while getting exposure to semen regularly…
Still pondering that one! Especially as it acts as a natural spermicide...plus I have endometriosis and copper IUDs can trigger heavier flows (hence pain in my case) – and I know hormonal contraception is a no no for me (have tried the Mirena and suffered terribly).
When would you want to start TTC #4?

@TheAnchor – it’s great to see successes – most success stories shared are for pink sways, so always glad to see successful blue sways! That being said, so many this year compared to last – might just be the way it was reported, but it sure feels like something went right hehe
What you did is that is what I did last time too, but I guess it wasn’t enough – my girls seem to all be strongly stubborn from the time they were little sperm forcing their way into the egg (and they never seem to get any less stubborn – poor hubby, they’re like their Mummy) LOL
