PGD question and dealing with awful comments
Would anyone be able to weigh in ? I just read on another board about a woman who swears that the reason her IVF failed is because of PGD. In other words, she was claiming that the process of PGD harms the embryos and that is the reason for the failed implantation, miscarriages etc. Does that make sense? I thought the point was to introduce healthy embryos. Then she got on her high horse about playing God and that choosing the sex. I won't even begin to share my thoughts on that.

I think when they did the biopsy on day 3 it was more of a issue with a higher chance of damaging the embryo because they are taking 1 cel from an embryo that only has 8 cels. Now that biopsies are done on day 5 there is so many more cells it is better and less damaging. You also need to make sure you are going to an experienced clinic that does a big volume of PGD.

She sounds like she is just very bitter and looking for an explanation for the failure. She may be right about her case but in general it is agreed that 5 day biopsy has little if not no negative effect on the 'health' of the embryo, and can give so much more chance for a healthy baby due to the genetic analysis.

Well, you know what they say, opinions are like ---holes, everyone's got one.
I think that sometimes when people are in a dark place, as are many gals who have to do IVF for fertility issues, it is easy to look around and want to assign blame for things that are prob. just bad luck and also to call out anyone who has it "less bad" than you do. All you can do is feel sympathy and not let it get you down.
Never forget, if you hit your thumb with a hammer (aka GD) it still can hurt like the blazes. IT doesn't matter there are people out there who have no thumbs, no arms, or whatever, hitting your thumb with a hammer still hurts. That others may have it worse than you doesn't change that fact.
My advice for whatever it's worth, we have a nice little community here and we have been able to keep the backbiting at a minimum, hang out here instead of on the other boards.!!! Questions?? Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

The new methods of PGD actually take a cell from the part that IS TO BECOME THE PALCENTA, NOT the baby...called Trophectoderm biopsy. This is done on day 5 or 6 so it is not thought to harm the baby in any way, shape, or form. Hope that helps
We finally gave our 3 boys TWIN sisters!! so our full house is complete!!!

2 weeks before. Keep in mind that many people think they actually sway blue and WANT to be on them for their sway. OPK are fallible. We use them because it's the best technology we have, but...
