I am completely torn on the high-tech because of this exact conundrum of what to do should there be remaining embryos if we have a successful transfer of a girl… There's so much guilt associated with this process after having a beautiful healthy baby boy, but still having an ache in my soul to have a daughter. We have consulted at an IVF clinic and often I am leaning towards going forward with it even though it means months of medication potential heartache, potential losses, potential relationships drain all because of my desire for a daughter. Having to make a decision on what to do with the remaining embryos is just almost heartbreaking to think about… all of this just for my baby girl? It seems hard to justify all of this. We only have one more shot for a child I know I love my son. I know I would love another son. But will I ever get over my desire for a daughter?

It is such a personal decision.. I think that we would all cherish and love any child made of our body.. BUT if you have made the choice to go high tech you need to accept that fertilised embryos will be created, and you may not get the chance to implant all of them (of course we are all hopeful we will implant at least one!) it's getting into some pretty heavy territory.. what u consider the start of 'life' ..
