    Perth girls any advice?

    Hi girls,

I have just had my consult with my genea doctor who was fabulous and am very happy I chose her. Very excited that I have the ball rolling. She will post all our pre testing forms and that will be the next step. But she said we should be fine to go mid march if results all look good. Given our history she thinks everything should be fine but I am also aware not to be too confident!

Anyway my plan was to do a freeze all (hopefully!!) then head back to thailand for a fet a few months later. Anyway dr k said that we could ship the embryos back to Australia for fet. She was going to look into Perth to see whether they would transfer tested embryos or otherwise we could fly to Sydney for transfer. Firstly I haven't seen anyone do this to Perth? Does anyone know if this would be an option? Or otherwise have many people flown them back to Sydney? Would you recommend this? Would the cost work out to be much different?

    Thanks for any advice!!!

Great you liked your Dr, was she nice to deal with ?, has she said what protocol she would use ect ? I would leave the Embryos in Thailand, im pretty sure WA wont let you do it and its actually alot cheaper doing it at SART than doing it here/sydney , plus no risk to the embryos during transport, you just have no idea how the container is treated on the journey over

Great thanks for that! That was what I was thinking.

Yeah she was really nice to deal with and said to email anytime and she always responds within a day so that's comforting. We didn't discuss protocols at all until I have results from pre testing. Everything will be done by the end of the month so early Feb I will have another app to sort out all that.

Can't believe this is started to happen! Quietly excited but anxious also. As we all have, a lot of reading means knowledge but also knowing the possibilities of it not happening straight away or at all is nerving. Oh to be a OHW!!! X

  4. Thanks girly thanked for this post

From Perth, leave your embryos in Thailand, I just don't think there is any point in risking it. The cost associated with transfer and storing here is more than the cost of one or two plane rides.

We have had girls ship embyos (but only one from SART) and no one has gotten pregnant with those embryos. The SART one transferred 4 in total, but that was a long time ago and they were FISH tested only.

Also Perth is very backward with IVF, I don't know anyone who has got pregnant here. I am on a local parenting forum and all the girls have heaps and heaps of transfers before getting pregnant. They aren't even open 7 days, I just don't know how they can do that.

    If anything ship to Sydney.

Your out of Perth aren't you? I was going to organise a catch up, probably once the kids go back to school. I will let you know anyway.

Great thanks so much! My mind is made up then, easier to leave any there. Great definitely let me know if you have a catchup. Hopefully I can make it this time.

Another thing... Can the pre testing ultrasound be done at any clinic or does it have to be at an ivf clinic? Thanks

    Hey Sally gal,
I was going to ship to Sydney, my dr was very insistent to do so, until I found out the price!!
The stats for FET are the same as Genea in Sydney owns SART, so the processes are the same, other clinics may/ most likely use different processes and cultures, which can cause issues. I was recommended only to transfer to Genea if I wanted them in oz.
The cost is really high! It was advertised to me as being significantly cheaper option by the dr, but actually ended up 3 times more incl flights, as there is no Medicare rebate at all!
So back to SART I go!
    Good luck!

Get your pretesting and monitoring ultrasounds done at a fert clinic or women's imaging. the local Pathology places just aren't up to the task. they aren't specialised enough for the precise measurements you need during monitoring and your AFC can dictate your protocol so that needs to be accurate too.
