LoL! I totally get what you mean. My post was a bit ambiguous. Sometimes I wish I didn't know about Google Scholar! Grad school will do that to you!

They are much like positive thinking--the best medicine for anything in my opinion.
    Touché! Great point!

Aside from whether or not they work, the necklaces are mighty cute and come with a breakaway clasp. That's why i got one - I doubted they worked but I did like the look of them and had a hard time finding a necklace for a baby that was safe (altho they do of course still require supervision.)

I think I've come to the conclusion that the don't "work " as claimed. Yes, amber contains succinct (sp?) acid, however I can't seem to find studies that support it for pain relief. AND even if I did, it working the way claimed is not really possible. The baby's body heat releases the acid, which is absorbed into the skin, Providing pain relief? That's all well and good, except that amber has to be heated to 200dc to release any volitles.

I don't know of any studies but I bought one for DS and it did nothing! Complete waste of time, his teddy bear wears it now

I think they look adorable!! I don't believe they work but I love how they look. My 5 year old still wears his, he loves it. My 3 year old suddenly wanted his off & now looks naked.
