Having a bath in early pregnancy

Probably sounds like a dumb question coming from someone who's had 6 kids but are we "allowed" (is it safe) to have a warm bath during early pregnancy?

I know it can't be really hot and with the others I've had baths later on in pregnancy but not during early pregnancy.

I googled it but some say yes it's ok as long as it's not hot, other sites say no because heat and water are both breeding grounds for bacteria and sitting in a bath could cause water to "go up" into you and/or be absorbed through the skin!??!?

I'd like a bath but only if it's 100% safe.

I'm crazy so when I took baths while pregnant I used a thermometer to test the water. I like extremely hot baths so I had to make sure they weren't crazy hot while pg. I think all that about bacteria is total BS, I would just watch the temperature.

Baths are fine! Again, watch the temperature and all should be well. Test with your elbow. The one thing I would mention is some people in pregnancy are more sensitive to things like bath oils, bubbles, etc. (can cause thrush) so see how you go with those...

Baths are fine... watch the temperature. The bacteria thing is a bunch of crap unless you are in labor and have ruptured your membranes and are bathing in a dirty bathtub (or a lake or hot tub). Hot tubs can have some disgustingness going on in them so I would avoid them even if they are a cooler temperature.

I am OCD so use a digital fish tank thermometer for giving the babies a bath. I love it cause I know exactly what makes them comfortable and when they need to come out cause it is too cold. I always have the bath water between 98-100 for them.

The dangerous part comes in when you take a hot bath and then it causes your core temperature to rise. So a bath at 98-102 should be just fine. Bath water also cools off pretty quickly. I love a really hot bath so I always have to be mindful of the temperature.

warm bath is ok, hot bath is a no-no.

Don't worry about "breeding ground for bacteria" as your body has ways of dealing with bacteria or else the whole human race would have died out long ago. I woudl prob. not bathe in the River Ganges or the Muddy Missisip, but your nice tub (even if, like mine, yours is not spic and span)
