TMI - yuck. anyone get a thrombosed hemorrhoid? :(

Just as I am about 95% recovered from my csection. I have sprung a bad hemorrhoid, it's thrombosed. I suffered with hemorrhoids a bit in pregnancy before but nothing like this. I'm not sure how it suddenly came about - my diet is great, I never strain or suffer digestive problems, I can't think of anything that brought it on other then I was sitting lots after the csection of course. Anyway. I hear they are common in pregnancies, so I thought I'd ask here. I went to my doctor yesterday morning and she gave me a surgery referral but said if by tonight it's not better I should go to the ER to have it lanced. Looking online - apparently they are nothing serious, just painful and will get better on their own usually with a week. I have been applying the prescription cream, doing Epsom salt baths and using ice packs religiously. I guess my question is, has anyone had any luck without getting it lanced???? I'm not going to the ER tonight - I want to wait it out. It hurts alot but it's not unbearable. Advice???

I have had one that came and went but nothing too horrible - even when it got pretty large, after a couple days it went away on its own. I hope you're feeling better soon!!!

I love that before having children I would NEVER admit to such a thing, but after babies its just so whatever! No more shame lol! Anyways, I think I've had this before.. I know for sure with both pregnancies I've had hemorrhoids as my babies love riding as low as humanly possible in my pelvis. They weren't usually painful, but definitely obvious and went away after the delivery. However, maybe 6 months back I randomly had a 'relapse' and I'm going to assume it was a thrombosed one. I think it took about a week to go away but I did lots of sitz baths, always sat on a pillow, and kept my legs elevated as much as possible - something I read that was recommended. It was extremely painful and just when I thought I was going to have to go to the Dr. it cleared up and I haven't had an issue since. I would try and give it a few days, relieve as much pressure by laying down over the weekend if DH can help and hopefully it'll fix itself on its own!

Oh no, poor you! I haven't had one of these (had a huge cyst in that area instead on the run up to o-day of my first cycle - was so very NOT amused...), but DH has - really scared him. Took it to the GP who gave him some cream and some other liquid to 'help his stomach' and said that it was possibly prolonged amounts of sitting/stress that can cause these. Thankfully it went down on it's own. I hope you heal quickly x

Thank you! Yes I think it's the sitting after my csection that did it for me :( feels awful!

Bumping for more mama's experiences?

I had that during my last pg...and run don't walk to your appt with the specialist for surgery! LOL...however, it did take me some emotional fortitude to bare my bum like that and I am not a modest person but something about that area when it is in horrible pain just makes the tears flow and bring out a bit of a vulnerable side (for me anyway, maybe others have an easier time!). But maybe its because they are just SO KIND and sympathetic and you have been suffering and finally getting help that its almost a cathartic experience getting those suckers removed! LOL!

Anyway, I hope yours is better now...but the only advice I have is to keep the cleanest rear end this side of the Mississippi and try to put the offending bit back inside if you can and experiment with the tucks (frozen etc) to bring some relief. I had a numbing cream prescribed which did help a tiny bit. Hopefully it is better!!

Thanks for sharing!! Do you mind me asking what procedure they did to remove it??? If I had of went to the ER they would have lanced it which I've read TERRIBLE things about. I haven't had a call yet from the specialist but my doctor mentioned they'd do "banding".

The pain has really subsided a lot, now it's just incredibly annoying. It's still there but I only really notice pain if I sit on it so I am assuming its not thrombosed now since that's apparently excruciating! Hoping that now since the pain has decreased that it'll go down lol!

No I did not have banding and I agree with you, that sounds a bit spooky....as does "lancing"! I would be nervous having an ER doctor doing something like that...although maybe they do them all the time LOL

It is always an option to see if it goes away all on its own (which is a good chance now that pg is over and you are not planning on getting pg again which could make it allll come back)! Its a good sign its better already!
