I think I might have read this somewhere...but not 100% sure. How do you wean off of baby aspirin and get folic acid down to just the amt in prenatal?

With the baby asprin I think you wean off over 2 weeks. I was taking it every day so going to go to every second day now then every 3rd day etc.... With the folic acid I don't think it would matter too much, you could just go straight to the reduced amount now. I'm going to get some pregnancy multi's when I can get to the shops instead of just the folate on it's own.
Congrats again beachy!!
Thanks Ruby!!!!! Congrats to you too!
Baby aspirin - as soon as you get BFP, start extending the amount of time between doses. If you were taking it every other day, start taking it every 2 days, then every three, then every four, till you're taking it once a week only and then you can stop. Should take about 2-3 weeks depending on how much you were taking - obviously someone taking only 3 a week can get off more quickly than someone taking 5 a week.
Re folic acid, continue at the higher dose of folic acid throughout the first trimester. You can either add the amount in your prenatal to that (so if you were taking 1200 mcg and your prenatal has 400, you'd just add the prenatal and thus increase your total to 1600) or you can lower your folic just enough to add in the amount in your prenatal (so if you were taking 1200 mcg and your prenatal has 400, you'd drop one of your 400 mcg folic and hold steady at the 1200 amount.) Both ways are fine. Then, when the first trimester ends and you're 12-14 weeks or so, do exactly the same as you did with the baby aspirin. Gradually reduce the amount of time between doses over the span of 3 weeks or so until you're taking just the amount in the prenatal and continue just the prenatal for the rest of your pregnancy.
Actually, it's pretty important to continue the higher dose through the first trimester if you can. I don't want anyone cutting back to a lower dose of folic acid until after the first trimester is over because your baby isn't done forming until after that point. :)
Thank you!!!!!!!
bump for anyone else with the same questions ive been asking all day :-)
