Is my dream killed?

So, I am pregnant with twins and swayed girl. I am not finding out what I am having. I go to a specialist office every two weeks in addition to my OB because they measure my cervix and the twins. Anyways, the receptionist there always talks about what I am going to have and teases me about maybe having 4 boys since I always have my 4 yr old and 2 1/2 yr old boys with me. When I told her I wasn't finding out a while ago, she said, "oh, when you have your anatomy scan I'm going to have to look in your chart and find out what you're having!" Obviously, I thought she was kidding. Well, today, I was there and checking out and scheduling my next apt, she starts laughing. I say, "What's so funny?" she replies, "remember what I told you I was going to do?", I reply, " you looked in my chart, you know what I'm having?!", she giggles and says, "yes, don't you hate when people know something you don't know?". I respond, " yes! I can't believe you know what I am having, I can't look at you!" and I leave. I was so upset, of course all I can think is that she was laughing because she found out I am having two more boys. I haven't stopped obsessing about it all day, her laugh just irked me. She was taunting me, and I will not be going back there, I can't deal with her comments and feel like I will be reading into it. I am so mad, it's none of her freaking business. She was being so selfish.

Do you think her laugh is because she found out it is two more boys? I can't help but think my dream of a girl is over.

Wow what a horrible lady, I think you should make a formal complaint against her. She obviously has some major issues if she treats clients like that. Don't let her behaviour stress you out it could mean anything, I think she just enjoyed teasing you although I have no idea why maybe it made her feel good. I think you have a really good chance at 2 girls. I don't know about where you are but at the anatomy scan here if you don't want to find out the sex they will avoid that area so there wouldn't be any pictures.

Oh you poor thing! I can't believe it - that's SO unprofessional. I would call up and complain to the OB. Say that you wont be attending the practice anymore because of the receptionist and why and request your file be transferred asap to another OB. And I would also follow it up with a a formal letter of complaint and request that it go on her personnel file! Serves her right! It is not ok to look at your file and it is just cruel to taunt someone. No wonder you're obsessing about it. But it could just as easily be a boy and girl or even two girls and she was just laughing about the fact she knows and you don't.

I have 2 stepsons and I remember feeling pretty gutted when I found out my twins were boys but they are totally adorable and so awesome. I know the dynamics of 4 boys and I have to say its pretty fantastic. You'll be ok whatever the outcome.

I would absolutely file a complaint against her. And do they even record he gender in your chart. They don't at my practice. SHe has a lot of nerve. I don't even know if I would believe her that she knows. The laugh could have totally meant you are gOing to be totally psyched !!!

I don't think she knows! I think she is probably young, unprofessional and she got too familiar with a client, joking about something she doesn't understand!! You are none the wiser about the gender of your kids after this incident!! You do have more information about the incompetence of the specialist clinics personnel department though!!

I would definitely talk to someone about her unprofessionalism. But I would say you can't usually gauge what she's thinking by excitement and giggling.. then again from my perspective I would think that it would more likely mean.. I know it's girls and you don't.. and you will be SO happy once you find out! If I was that happy and immature and said that to someone I cared about it would mean that I have something VERY positive to say ..and I'm just bursting about it! I don't know, I guess it's not fair to look at it either way.
Besides, what she said was wrong! I'm sorry you had a bad day Amari :( Try not to worry.. and still enjoy that wonderful pregnancy!

Thanks, ladies. My dh tried to call today to complain but they were closed. I am definitely leaving to another place, luckily it isn't my OB's office, just the specialist. I am trying to just let it go.

MatildaMai-love to know 4 boys are good. I know it will be great if I have 4 boys, it will just be letting go of not having a girl.

Butterfly spirit- I love your attitude! I am being so negative that I think she would get joy out of me having 4 boys and no girl. I just can't get her face and stupid giggle out of my head!

And, yes, when my regular OB told me that he reviewed the anatomy scan report, and I told him I don't want to know the genders, he said he didn't even know them-so maybe she was a total jerk and doesn't even know!

Amari, maybe she wasn't trying to be mean, maybe she was just really not thinking and being unintentionally insensitive - maybe she knows you are actually having two girls??

Update - Ah just read Butterfly's reply... yes, I agree, maybe I am an optimist but I really have a hard time thinking that someone would take joy in someone else's disappointment, esp. one that works with preggo women on a daily basis... I totally think it was wrong of her to say anything at all though!

I agree with this, i think she may not know at all! Your anatomy scan is to check anatomy not gender! When I have stayed team yellow they have avoided that area all together so there is no reason for anyone to have seen or written anything down:agree: The woman was an insensitive cow, try and let it go and enjoy your special pregnancy xx
