What does everyone do/have?
Big kid's room or small?
Any pros/cons with 2-3 kids in a room.
Would love to know folks' experiences with regard to ages of kids and sharing as well.
I have 4 kids and currently 2 kids' bedrooms. They are young though, only one in school so that is in their own room.
Just wondering how things will be as they get older.
We have one small kid's room and DD1 and DD2 share it. They have bunk beds. I'm planning to squeeze in DD3 when I wean her off.
I would like if the room was much bigger but I'd still keep them together. Imo it's good for a child to learn to share their space and I think it is also a way to teach them how to be close with siblings. If the kids are same gender, no sweat.
If we have 4th kid I have absolutely no idea where to put HIM :wink:
We have our kids share too. I think it is good for all the reasons ZB mentioned. :)
SD1 and SD2 (8yrs and 6yrs) have their own room in our 3 bedroom house, they only stay with us every second weekend so most of the time that room is empty, but DD goes in there a lot to play with their toys. DD has her own room for now but will have to share with new baby when new baby turns 1. If new baby is a boy maybe i will put the 3 girls together, im not sure yet.
We have three bedrooms and have converted another room in our house to a bedroom as well. Right now, DSS and DS share a room, DSD and DD share a room, and the baby has his own room. If this baby is a boy, it will share a room with the 2yo. If it's a girl, I don't know what we'll do.
We have a 3 bedroomed house and our two boys are in together as we feel they benfit from sharing. In fact, they won't settle without each other and as we home educate too, they miss each other so much when they're apart! Obviously, they fight like any normal brothers, but we believe sharing is best when they're little. Our spare room had always been a reserved room for baby number three, although my hubby'd be very happy to stop at two. It's only through a lot of persuasion and proving that we have space for another that my hubby's agreed. The boy's bedroom is a decent size, not huge but big enough and will be better when they're big enough for bunk beds. Our third room is a reasonably-sized single room and will make a lovely nursery. We'd have room for 4 (my dream, but hubby's nightmare - we'll see! :giggle:) but it would be a squeeze!
Our children are schooled at home as well! The bedroom sharing situation works very well for us, because the kids aren't too far apart in age. I'm not sure how it would work if, for instance, the 2yo had to move in with the 10 and 11 year olds, and the 15 and 8 year olds had to share a room with an infant sister. Our nursery is very small and has been perfect for one, but we could squeeze another crib in there.Quote:

They have opposite sleeping preferences such as one wants the lights all off and door shut and the other wants lights and door open. The oldest also has ASD issues and we worry about him bothering or hurting DS2. Luckily baby 3 will stay in our room for a few months after they come buying us more time to get the others to cope.
We have three bedrooms. Right now, ds1 (age 8) and ds2 (age 5) share a room and have bunk beds. They love sharing a room and I don't think they would want to be separate even if we had more room. DS3 will be 2 at the end of November, and he has his own room. We are currently ttc. I'm not exactly sure where the new baby will sleep. I will probably keep him or her in my room for the first few months. I am debating about whether we should squeeze ds3 in with his brothers and give his room to the baby or to put the baby in with ds3. I am kind of concerned about the baby waking ds3 up at night. He sleeps well now, but does get up at least once a night usually. I would hate for him to be up every time the baby gets up! We have some time to work it out.
If the baby is a boy, then he will share a room for sure with ds3 when they are both older. If it is a girl, I'm not sure. I think she could share a room with her brother until maybe around 5 or 6, but then we may have to put the three boys together. Or move to a bigger house!
