Is it possible to get OPK + after ovulation? FF is confusing me! Also question about migraine med

So I've been charting my temps now for the past 3 months and I have to say, from my experience, Fertility Friend has been off each time by a day of when I ovulate. But this month it's really confusing me! I had 2 1/2 days of + OPK but prior to the + OPK's, my temp dropped a lot. On CD9, my temp was 97.5. That day, my CM was sticky and glue like, I also had a sore throat and a cold started that day. I took 2 Benadryls to help me sleep through the night well. The following morning (CD10), my temp dropped to 96.9. I never hit the 96's. Usually stay around the 97's prior to ovulation. Then on CD11, my temp was 97.93. Fertility Friend is saying it thinks I ovulated on CD 10. However, I did not get positive OPK's until CD11, CD12 and first half of CD13. I'm a terrible migraine sufferer when my hormones change and I did get my usual extremely painful migraine on CD14. I believe when my progesterone levels raise, this is when my migraine comes on. So I woke on CD14 with a temp of 98.18. So these were my temps, would you agree with FF that I ovulated on CD10 and also, is it possible to ovulate and then get 2 1/2 days afterwards of positive opk's?

CD9: 97.5
CD10: 96.79 (took Benadryl night before and have cold and sore throat)
CD11: 97.93
CD12: 97.92
CD13: 98.26
CD14: 98.18 (felt migraine coming on this day; usually means ovulation has taken place or will be)
CD15: 98.21
CD16: 98.33
CD17: 98.08
CD18: 97.77 (rough night sleep b/c son is getting 2 year molars so was awake part of night)
CD19: 98.4

Any help is appreciated. I'm so mad at myself lately b/c I've been terrible on the diet between the holidays and not being able to skip breakfast due to stress. I'm in the 2ww now and if I end up with a boy, it's understandable; not that I would be upset with a boy but a little girl would be nice to have around the house and family.

Also, does anyone know if Fioricet sways? It's a combination of butabital, acetaminophen and caffeine (not the one with codeine, the pill without it.) It seems I have to take 2 of these when I get the crazy migraine around ovulation.

I was just prescribed fioricet and I asked AS about it but I can't remember what she said. I'm on my cell phone so when I get a chance I will look from my laptop. I do know I haven't taken it that much b/c I was concerned about the butibal in it and swaying.

Ok I read it. It's fine for swaying and I talked to my GYN about it and she said it is a Class C drug but doctors will prescribe it for pregnant woman but to only take it if absolutely needed. That's why I haven't taken it that much b/c I just don't know to much about it. If you are miserable tho I would take it. I have taken it at night before bed. My GYN told me to take one at night and 4 hrs later take another one. I only take 1 tho to take off some pressure etc.

I was so worried about the effects on my baby but my son turned out to be healthy (thank God) and he's very smart. He was a little colic for a month and a half but I don't think it has anything to do with the Fioricet. I took the Fioricet about once to twice a month while pregnant. It was terrible! My gyno told me it was better to take them then put the baby in distress. For years I've been a migraine sufferer and was told "oh, when you get pregnant one day, they will subside for that time". Um, yeah, not in my case! I showed up in my neurologists office and he was shocked I was still suffering with them during my pregnancy. He said I was one of the 10% who still suffer with migraines during pregnancy. My suggestion is if you need them, take them. They def help. And again, you wouldn't' want to put a baby in distress due to a migraine. They are so debilitating and painful.

Thanks for your reply. Really appreciate it. I've been taking Fioricet for years. Before conceiving DS, I was taking Verapamil which is a beta blocker they use to prevent migraines. I was on it probably for like 6 months to a year. I couldn't get pregnant for almost a year and turns out that med was causing my body to think it was preggo. It made my prolactin levels rise as if I was already pregnant. As soon as I stopped it, a week later, I got preggo. So I'm not sure if by the Verapamil being in my body at that time swayed by any way but I know I've been taking Fioricet for years and I know that I did take Fioricet 3 days after I BD back then b/c I have all of that stuff charted. Like I said, I get these extremely painful migraines right when I ovulate. So not sure if the Fioricet also played a roll or not back then. I would think the butalbital would sway girl b/c it's a narcotic...I think. Anything that is not good for the body sways girl. However, not sure how the caffeine reacts. I think it's small amount of caffeine in the pill. BUT I don't drink caffeinated drinks b/c of my migraines and I ended up with a boy...although I am a chocaholic. I just recall drinking tons of fresh squeezed orange juice every day at breakfast and having a waffle with maple syrup 4 days a week as my breakfast at work back then. I've greatly switched from drinking OJ to just water or decaf coffee and eating plain bagels for brekkie with little cream cheese. But my issue at hand is snacking after lunch. Especially at work. It's like chocolate is just calling my name in between lunch and dinner. Anyway, if you don't mind, when you have a moment, if you could let me know what AS said about the fioricet it would be appreciated.

I wonder if beta blockers sway boy and that's why I have my little boy; aside from eating the way I ate back then! I'm praying you tell me Fioricet sways girl somehow. LOL. Sorry to rant with this post! LOL.

Hope your migraines get better. I know when I take Fioricet, I can't drive. It totally makes me really mellow and in a different state of mind. Feel better. Migraines are the worst!

I just read your dr said to take one before bed and to take another one 4 hours later. In my experience b/c I've been taking them for like 7 years or more; if you take one and it works, then I wouldn't take another. There are times that one isn't enough and I will take another one but it's only around ovulation time that I get them that severe. I do remember when I was pregnant though suffering with some of them really bad and I would have to take 2 to relieve it and my gyno did tell me to wait 4 to 6 hours in between. However, if they were really, really bad, 4 hours was the minimum I could wait. It sux that we suffer with these horrible migraines. I pray during my next pregnancy, they will subside. That would be a miracle for me..especially after my last pregnancy how bad I suffered and how much work I missed due to them. Feel good. And again, thanks for the info.

At first I thought the LE diet was bringing them on b/c at that time I was strict but that wasn't the problem. My GYN said women that are in their 30's go thru hormone changes and it can bring migraines on. My stress hasn't been more than normal so I'm wondering if it is hormones. ;) The joys of being a woman. Yes mellow is a good word to describe how you feel after taking one. From what I read online about the medicine is that it says not to take a lot the month before delivery b/c of the baby which makes sense. It seems a lot of people are prescribed this while pregnant. I don't think taking medicine a few times a month while pregnant can be detrimental especially if you've discussed it with your OB. Migraines are horrible and I think if you allow it to go on for a long time it isn't healthy for your body and mental health.

I should clarify: I had the hood on b/c my head hurt soo bad.

I literally lol'd when you said your kids thought you were losing your mind b/c of your hood being over your head! LOL. I thought maybe that was b/c of the Fioricet making you mellow but I did see your clarification below. I find that when I take Fioricet, it def make me more mellow and (not that I'm not a nice person), it makes me become a little bit nicer and easy going. Haha! Also, I get very talkative. Guess it's b/c of the caffeine with the talking part. I guess i'm just not used to caffeine since I stopped drinking caffeinated coffee and taking Advil Migraine. I find I get bad side effects from Advil Migraine as I got older. It makes me so speedy and I just can't think at all. It also makes my heart race whereas the Fioricet does not.

I had no idea about that about taking the Firoicet in the last trimester. Thanks for telling me that. I know my migraines really got bad in my second trimester. I remember in my first trimester thinking how nauseaus I felt yet I had no migraines for weeks. It was amazing...and then they hit me again.. :(

God, my hormones got a lot worse in my early 20's. That's when I was diagnosed with these things. Did your doctor say why it gets worse in our 30's? Do our hormone levels change that much and if so, did he say if estrogen or more progesterone is present in our 30's? I'm 39, almost 40 so I pray that these migraines don't get worse. I was approved for Botox for them before I conceived DS but I held off until I got pregnant (b/c I was having issues ttc). Once I had DS, I ran right over the my neurologist office (about 3 months later) and got approved for Botox. It was amazing! While I still got the migraines, the intensity was so much less that 4 Tylenols would take the migraine away. I plan on doing the Botox again after I have my next child and right before I go back to work like I did last time. You have to get 15 or more migraines a month to qualify (which I do) and also have no meds out there that work for you that you can fuction on...like the triptans (zomig, imitrex,etc). I'm allergic to an ingredient in the triptan drugs so I can't take them otherwise I get really nauseaus, can't function and my throat even started closing with one of them.

hope your migraines get easier without getting worse. They suck! LOL.

My last migraine lasted 5 weeks. It was awful. Dh told me I had to go to the doc to get help lol I guess I was a tad bitchy. I didn't get a ton of info on the hormones that my doc brought up. I was ready to go and get my prescription filled. I'm 33 so I wasn't expecting to hear that but it does make sense. Hormones can do a lot of different things to your body.

Oh my 5 weeks! They say after 3 days if its not subsiding to go to the hospital for a shot of demoral bc you can get a stroke if they last too long. I have no idea how you functioned suffering that bad. Yes you def need the fioricet. Just be careful bc a friend of mine did get addicted to them. I wouldn't take it for the first year when prescribed bc i was scared of getting addicted but one day had to take it bc my head was so bad. I do notice if I take like 3 pills in a day and then the migraine subsided and i dont take another fioricet its like a withdrawal occurs where I can't sleep and I feel like I want to jump out of my skin but that's only happened like twice in ten years of taking it.. Also if you take too much it could cause rebound headaches. It's a vicious cycle. I can't believe you dealt with the pain that long. I wouldn't be able to tolerate it that long. There have been a couple times I thought is have to go to the er for demoral but never had to do it. Thank god!
