It's a blood test on you around 11 weeks(takes 2 weeks for results). Looks for down's and can tell you gender. It is accurate.
Wow that's great. Is it expensive or covered by insurance?
Not covered. Several hundred dollars. Just google it and check out their site.
Insurance sometimes covers it if you're over 35 or otherwise at high risk for chromosomal abnormalities. There are some other tests like it. Harmony also gives gender, and I think Verifi does too. Panorama can be done even earlier and is reported to be the most accurate.
Wow how have I not heard of all these things?? I just had a baby 18 months ago but had no idea!! Exciting stuff..
They're new and I think have only become available within the last 18 months.
I do think you can have the Down's test done but I'm not totally sure they will be accurate for gender because you're carrying twins. If you have a BG set, you may not be able to get an accurate read?? not sure how that works but just something to consider.
I'm not carrying twins... Unless atomic is being prophetic/psychic.... Twins! Yikes! Kinda awesome and terrifying at the same time!!!
Carameline is having twins!!!
If you are having twins, the doc checks for a single placenta (identical) and if they're not identical, typically recommends a CVS instead. These tests aren't a great option for twins :(
