I had a bmi of 17 when I started rarely getting a period so I assume I wasn't ovulating either. i was off bc for a year but still tought it was from that.. now I know it wasn't lol Wish I still had to worry about being under weight! Lol I'm average now but I miss being a size 0. Hope that helps!
Weight can mess up everything. All your hormones. Great news is that it is 100% correctable!
Size 0! I don't even remember what that's like! Lol!! 😉
My bmi is about 17.5. I stopped ovulating on my own 3 months ago. I don't know if that's why but I guess it is possible. I have been trying to stay within the le range but maybe I need to eat more to start ovulating.
Although I wasn't swaying at the time, I lost my cycle when my BMI dropped just below 18. I was unwell for many years after that, but it actually took 18 months to come back even after my BMI regulated above 18. I don't miss being a size 0 at all!
I've always had extremely regular cycles and had a BMI of 18.5 and 18.8 when I got pregnant with both boys. I've never dropped below that, but I bet under 18 would affect fertility.
I do not want anyone to go below BMI 18.5. It is dismaying to me that anyone is droping to 17.
Any time you lose a lot of weight fast, you can stop ovulating for a while even if your weight is still above what you would think would be ok.
You can't just look at a BMI and say, yes this will be ok because that's not how your body works. everyone is different and you can stop/delay O at any BMI with rapid wieght loss
Healthy fats will help you to gain back your cycle, as well. Although it sways boy, fat (healthy monounsaturated and even grass fed meat fat) is not what causes your body to gain fat, but sugars and grains are what cause weight (and fat) gain. Maybe try and small amounts of fat but maybe up your fruit or grain intake (?) better to be safe and stay healthy.
