Amniocentesis
Hello There,
I got the results back of blood two weeks ago - first trimester screening - and my Down syndrome risk is "positive". Everything looked perfect on the u/s (vaginal&abdominal scan). There were NO any visible markers on u/s for Downs! I felt quite reassured, but my blood was abnormal, positive for Down.
Then I did the Panorama test and just got back my results; "low risk" No risk for Down!!!
My embryo tested with IviGen - PGS + GenderSure (Day5 biopsy, Day6 fresh transfer)
I do not want a downs baby, but I'm scared from the risk of the amnio.. (I'm 39)
I have an SCH, I'm spotting/bleeding from that on and off.. I'm afraid the risk of the amnio is higher with a hematoma..?
What to do now?
Thank you so much!
Agnes

I wouldn't do it. I would trust the ultrasound and panorama. I really think your baby is fine. I do understand your worry though and I too don't want a downs baby and terminate if I knew they were but only if I was 100 positive about the results. The ultrasound markers are supposed to be pretty accurate no?

You have had the blast biopsied and it was chromosomally normal! I'm pretty sure you have the lowest risk of DS in the whole world! Stop worrying and enjoy your pregnancy :).

please please please please please do not do the amnio. The perinatologist already explained why the screening test came up positive, and it is just not smart to take any level of risk for a baby that has already had PGD, ultrasound, and Panorama!

Personally, I would trust the Panorama, clear anatomy scan, doctor's explanation, and most importantly the PGD on the embryo! :)

I agree with all above opinions, please don't do it, don't risk your baby, I'm confident that she is 100% perfect ! xxx
