IBS, does it sway in any way?

Hello Atomic,

I noticed that since giving birth to DD I had a recurrent diarrhea or rather that I opened my bowel frequently for a few days, then stopped and then started again. I never checked it, as by the time I thought of checking it, I was pregnant with DS.

I noticed this now as well after giving birth to DS so I had a stool analysis and everything is fine, it is not a virus or anything I was told.
So I explained it as IBS (as we are looking to sell and buy a house and I am constantly stressing about it) and due to the fact I am wearing a tight support belt to reduce my diastasis rectii as per Physio's advice.

I was wondering does IBS or opening your bowels frequently sway in any way? Is there any information on this?

Have you been checked for lactose intolerance or celiac disease? That is what it sounds like to me. Lactose intolerance has a funny way of getting better during pregnancy and then coming back with a vengeance after you give birth.

Doctors are often in a hurry to call things "IBS" when it really means "I don't know what is going on with you".

On paper, it may sway pink by hurrying the food through your intestines and limiting nutrient absorption, but I would hate anyone to be miserable. THis is certainly not the kind of thing I would recommend enduring as a sway, that's for sure.

I would not have you use the fiber option with IBS.

Lactose intolerance or celiac disease?

Thanks Atomic, wow, my mom prefers bread without gluten and wheat, as she feels bloated otherwise and osteoporosis (grandma) and anaemia (mom) runs in my family and from what I read that could be related to Celiac disease. I will ask to be screened for both this and lactose intolerance and see.

It is interesting that I did not have this problem at all before getting pregnant with DC1.

Lactose intolerance can actually begin at any age. Your body makes an enzyme that digests dairy when you are a younger person and gradually over time, it makes less and less. I was 25 when I became lactose intolerant and I had always digested milk just fine up until that point. Then I found with every pregnncy I could have dairy again but then it came back after I had the baby. My mom was in her 50's and then suddenly she could no longer digest dairy and my son was only 16! It can just hit anyone at any point, whenever your body stops making the enzyme.

No one is really sure about why people get celiac disease but yes people also suddenly develop it out of the blue after a lifetime of eating gluten.
