Hi,
Atomic can you please help me with this? We are ttc a boy. I had a pos OPK last night (cheapies) but a neg on smiley at around 5 pm. We DTD around 9 pm. Then got a solid smiley from digi at 7 am with FMU. DTD again at 7 am. Now, shall we do a 3rd attempt if OPK is neg today 5 pm? Or leave it?
We have been DTD every 2-3 days. Many thanks.
For TTC a boy, I think more attempts is great. I like 3-5 attempts in fertile window.
This seems to confuse me. What is the optimal advice? I know it is said to dtd every 2-4 days but when is best to dtd every 2 or 3 or 4 days? Also in the fertile window should it be everyday/ twice a day? Is it from first smiley face? What if this fertile period lasts 4 days? Thanks!
No one knows "optimal advice" and it may be different for everyone anyway. All you are trying to do for blue, is have regular, unprotected intercourse and be in with 3 or more attempts in the fertile window of O-3 through O day. (and if you can't do that, try for at least 2!)
There is no point in pinning it down any more than that, because what works for one person won't for another and I don't want anyone walking around feeling dejected becasue they couldn't pull off some "magic" BD pattern when the fact is, there is no magic pattern and we wouldn't know it if there was one (due to absolutely NO data!!)
DTD every 2-4 days, it makes no difference if one day it's 2 and then next time it's 4, just regular unprotected BD, no pattern required.
Then, as you're approaching ovulation (within 2-4 days beforehand) have attempts every day, possibly be in with 2 attempts on O-1 if you can.
VEry few people's fertile period lasts longer than 4 days.
Thank you for your reply. I think it's just so easy to get crazy about it all. Especially as theories have changed so much over the recent years, it's hard to know what to do in order to have an optimal sway.

I got my 2 boys with lots of attempts in my fertile period.. Day 10 to 14. Back then I had no idea about my cycle really or swaying ( just assumed I'd get a girl) . I fell pregnant first month ttc both times and the person who gave me that advice also fell first months of attempts and funnyingly enough has 2 boys also. I had a very boy friendly diet and exercise patterns as well. I think we bd everyday during that fertile period.
