13-14 week potty shot question :)

I have read baby2see and know both have nubs and it's very difficult to tell the difference(unless you go by angle of nub in profile shot) but then you google 13 week potty shots and you see a good difference between them, boys have noticeable protruding penises and the girls are noticeable 3 lines(with the clitoris barely protruding) I once thought there was an article on here telling why you can't go by a potty shot that early but I am not finding it, but have many on message boards painting their nursery over a 13 week potty shot which does look very convincing to me on the gender, so are potty shots more than a 50/50 guess that early?

I think it can be obvious at 13 weeks. It was for my son.

Some of them can be reliable but not enough to be for certain. Boys can still look like three lines at that gestation while the scrotum is developing. 15 is just the safer bet.

At my 13 week ultrasound with DD the tech started to get very excited (knowing I had 4 boys already) and did a potty shot for confirmation. She couldn't say anything but I could tell she thought it was a girl. It was the sweetest "Yep!" I ever heard LOL

That having been said there are two things to consider, one is what everyone already mentioned which is that it isn't obvious for all babies and at that stage it is just better to go off nubs rather than potty shot. Secondly is the tech themselves, they are not all good at what they're doing and I feel like we see more mistakes in potty shots from the techs and especially doctors at that stage. Mistaking labia for testicles and stuff. So overall no matter if it works more often than it doesn't, it just isn't the level of reliabililty we like to see and I have seen too many people getting false hope or false despair that we want to optimize the chances of accuracy however we can. :)
