Breastfeeding and weaning

Someone mentioned on another post that even months after weaning can sway girl? I'm thinking because of nutrient depletion. With my first boy I weaned completely, got my period 2 weeks after and fell instantly pregnant with another boy.

Does anyon know approximately how many months after weaning might sway? My babe is almost 19 months and I kind of want to wean but I will keep nursing if it's a better sway. He has one 7 hour period at night where he doesn't nurse. Even night weaning 2 months ago has not given me back my cycle yet.

anyone know?

I would think for a cycle or two, maybe even longer. This is probably something that varies woman to woman, YK?

I'm sure Atomic will chime in. I hope this continues to sway, since my DS2 weaned himself the cycle before I got my BFP!!

It would be different for every person and depends on a lot of factors like your weight, diet, and how old your baby was and how much s/he nursed, along with tons of other things that are probably invisible to the naked eye (like your overall fertility and even genetics)

Do what is right FOR YOU. Don't worry about how it will affect your sway.

Thanks! Maybe I will just keep nursing it will be "something" different that with my second babe. Actively nursing vs. Just weaning.

I'm not sure if nursing makes LE diet more difficult for me. On one hand, it's nice to get some extra calories. But in the other hand, I have always felt that nursing makes me hungrier.

I would keep nursing as long as you and your baby still want to. If you find you are going a few months without conceiving, then you may want to evaluate if weaning is something you and baby could handle. Until then, (hopefully you won't have to think about weaning!), happy nursing!!!

Thank you! We aren't really TTC right now because I still have no cycle. I'm very sensitive to nursing. I was just hoping to do the LE diet for awhile and the exercising and have a long sway I guess. :)

I got a boy and a girl while breastfeeding and 3 boys without it. It's no magic bullet but I do think it helps. Nursing does tend to make me hungry though.

I think you should do what's best for you - I know in your uestionnaire it sounded like you wanted to wean. You can wean if you want or not if you want.

Fwiw I got pregnant with ds2 while nursing 20 mo ds1. If I had to theorize, I'd guess that weaning is actually *improving* maternal condition because there is less and less of a drain on your calories/energy. I don't know how much you're nursing your babe, but I think it might have to be quite a bit to sway?
