Moon Stages & AF Timing, is it indicative of anything?

Hi Atomic,

I started thinking on moon stages, conceiving and I was thinking, could when you ovulate and when your AF starts indicate anything on fertility?

When I conceived DD it was exactly on new moon and back then I ovulated around the time of the new moon and have AF around the time of the full moon.

With DS and now, I tend to ovulate around the time of the full moon and have AF around the time of the new moon or 1-2 days before/after.

Would this indicate anything? Does it reveal anything worth considering when one sways?

Hi Atomic, I just read the Lunaception essay, very interesting indeed. I am sure I read about this before, but a while ago and did not remember all these details.

I think I may try it by turning on the bedside light when there is new moon, just to see if I can align my AF with the full moon again. Does it matter what type of lamp you turn on and how many days should I sleep with the light on? Is it only on the day of the new moon or should I leave it on for a day or two after as well?

Jumping in here too [emoji6]- does it matter how bright the light needs to be? I have always had a salt lamp next to my bed and only have it on semi-bright when I'm nursing in the middle of the night.

This is an area of about 99.99% guesswork and speculation and about .01% fact (if that even)

I do feel like we have seen more girls conceived around new moons, more boys around full moons, but it is certainly no magic bullet and I (strongly) believe that it isn't about the moon itself but more that one's body may correlate itself with the moon phase when fertility is higher/lower. So it may not even make any sense to get all "Martha" trying to move your ovulation to the "right" moon phase/moonlight because it is about the condition and fertility and not some sort of magical moon power that is swaying.

Let me try to put this more clearly - because native people and our primate ancestors may be more likely to "get busy" when there is a full moon and they can see good enough to find each other, it may be a kind of primitive birth control for a woman in declined condition to ovulate with the new moon an thus possibly reduce the chances of conception. If you're more fertile it probably makes more evolutionary sense to ovulate with the full moon. So it isn't the moon doing anything in and of itself, it's that your body may use those cues to try and encourage or prevent conception.

3 days around whenever you want to ovulate is supposed to do the trick. I honestly do not know how bright it needs to be, just enough to emulate moonlight but not disrupt sleep. (although I have this miniscule green light shining on me at night from this piece of electrical equipment in our bedroom and it wakes me up in the middle of the night. :/)

So if you want to ovulate around the New Moon, turn the light on the day before, the day of, and the day after, right? Only have it on those three days then?

For some reason I thought it needed to be for two weeks with the New Moon being in the middle of that time frame. Not sure why I thought/think that.

Yes. That's right.

I just read an article that showed pretty clearly that the moon phase means people are awake more (even when they are kept away from the moon and sun for weeks/months at a time, they were awake more when there was a full moon) so the idea that being more fertile when mates wer also more awake might be good for people who are in good condition, while those who were less fertile might want to be totally infertile during that time and hence O with the new moon. Pretty crazy notion!

Having the lights on all the time at night MAY actually sway pink because it disrupts your brain's inner chronometer.
