Saw palmetto question
Hi, I am planning a pink sway for next cycle. I am going to follow a weight loss diet, have stopped all vitamins except folic acid, going to use rephresh, and dh has agreed to take licorice root and abstain until a single attempt at 3 days before O.
I also want to do saw palmetto but I am concerned it will affect my cycle so I won't be able to predict ovulation for our attempt. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I do think it sways pink or I wouldn't still recommend it. But you're right, it causes tons of trouble for people and it may delay ovualtion or even stop it for some people. And the results we've gotten have been decidedly "meh". If you can live without it and feel good about your sway anyway, I'd skip it. IF you feel like you'll be passing up on something and having regrets about it, then give it a shot but be sure you only do it AF-CD 14 or positive OPK, whichever comes first. Then drop it for the rest of the month even if you don't ovulate for a while.

Do you think it's best to stop it at ovulation, or at the first positive opk? I am test driving it now to see if it affects things. If it does, hopefully things return to normal quickly next cycle. I am on CD 11 and wouldn't typically get a positive for a couple more days, but the test line is extremely faint. However I do have ewcm today, so maybe I can take that as a good sign.

Stop it on CD 14 or positive OPK, whichever comes first. Many people NEVER ovulate while taking it, so you have to stop it at CD 14 anyway because you otherwise may end up waiting for an ovulation that never occurs

Would u recommend peppermint tea over taking saw palmetto atomic? X

Thanks for asking, I was wondering the same thing.
I find it hard to get in multiple cups of tea so I was wondering if it would still be effective to brew a day's worth and refrigerate so it can be drunk as mint iced tea.

I don't have the data I would need to say. I feel like people should do what they feel comfiest with (personally peppermint tea makes me yack at that intake and I could never manage to drink enough to sway). I didn't use either one. On paper they act very similarly and so ~should~ do much the same thing, but I don't think we're there yet in terms of a body of data that makes me feel one of them over the other.
Iced mint tea is fine. :)

Thanks for all the advice atomic. Hopefully this will be my last follow up question, but if I try mint next cycle and find I can't drink enough, is it OK to switch to saw palmetto in the same cycle?
And have you noticed people having the same ovulation issues with mint?
I really would like to include one in my sway, but like you say if it affects my cycle to the point where I can't pinpoint O and get pregnant, it's no good at all.

I'd stick with one or the other. the way they work may make them interfere with each other when taken together.

OK, thanks. If they do interfere with my ovulation and I decide to forego both, do you think licorice root for DH would sway just as well? (I have read the posts about it carefully and he has none of the red flags that would make it particularly risky.)
