Ttc girl and ovulated late, do I DTD again?

Here is some background. This is my second cycle TTc and I had a chemical last month. I dtd on very early morning on dec 26 (3am) I just did another opk kit today and it's still not pos. (my husband left work work is why we had to do it early) but it's getting pretty dark. So I'm assuming il O tomorrow. It will be 3 or 3.5 days from when we Dtd. I really want a girl and I am an older mom almost 40. I have 2ds and 1 dd. So I know I'm on limited time but really only want a dd to complete our family. I understand dtd 1 time around O is optimal. Should I try again tonight. Or does that count for 2 attempts?

Another question if you do the 4 day attempt, does he release inside every time? Or only close to O?

With every 4 days you just DTD every 4 days with release inside. That way you are covered whenever the egg decides to pop :). Has your OPK turned positive yet? I'd probably DTD again Wednesday (30th) morning if you can. Goodluck xx

Thank you so much! Yes I was making sure it's still considered 1 attempt. No pos opk yet!I guess it's late this month, I'm soo regular. Lots of cramping which is a but strange.
She comes home tomorow so if I get a pos opk il try again.
My I ask if you Dtd on + opk? I get nervous so close to O. I know science debunked Shettles but I think I got my boys day before ov and dd 2 days prior. Although like i said I'm limited on time!

We did every 4 days the month I got pregnant. Previous months I had done +OPK but not gotten pregnant. That month my OPK's were going all over the show (darker then lighter etc). I thought our attempt that made her must have been day B4 +OPK - maybe 2 or 3 days B4 O, but that didn't really match up with the scans so I'm not actually sure what our timing would have been. I do know that we got DS2 (originally twins but 1 was lost first Tri) from 1 BD on CD6! I guess it's easy to drop timing after that lol.
I did diet, exercise, fiber, alcohol, and BD E4D. DH took OLE and was doing cycling every day but gave up the month B4 we conceived. I guess it's the whole picture + a little luck.

Yes i would have you guys in with another attempt either right away or wait for the true positive OPK. Your odds of concpetion are going to be pretty slim that far out and time isn't our friend here.

Every 4 days is unprotected BD every 4 days. :agree: You don't HAVE to do it when you don't think you're Oing, but if you do, then you're covered in case of early ovulation or delayed ovulation.

There are no magic bullets! I do want to reassure you on the timing front, most of us on this site have 2-3-4 or more Shettles opposites going all directions. I got 3 of my 4 boys with cutoffs at least 2 of which had to be at least 3 days (one I ovulated early but I literally had sex the day after I got off AF so even if I did O a couple days early, it was a long cutoff) and my other, I oed on time but my husband changed his mind about TTC and we quit before we thought we could possibly get pregnant, it was 4-5 days out (that was 20 years ago so my mind is hazy on specifics). My 3rd boy was a Shettles attempt 3 days before O and my hsuband wasn't even home then. With my daughter, I got her late at night the day before O which is perfect Shettles boy timing.

Tonight now the opk is very faint line. So either I O'd or I didn't! The most post was was a dark but very thin line (does that count?) yesterday so I'm guessing next month try on pos opk and hopefully he's home! I really can't say thank you enough for helping me. Actually the time at which your OPK goes un-positive doesn't really mean anything for ovulation. It can go negative before you ovulate or stay positive days afterwards. It is just the rate at which your body clears the hormone.

Dark but thin line does actually count, there is a limited amount of dye in the strips and if you get a dark line it can "use up" all the dye meaning that the rest of the line will be faint even if it's positive.

Next month hopefully the stars are in alignment for well-timed attempt or else BFP this month! :)
