i had an ectopic pregnancy 2 years ago, which required the removal of my right fallopian tube at 8 weeks.
now i have heard several different 'theories' as to what happens after the removal of a tube, but wanted to hear from an expert.
now that i have only one tube, does that mean i only have a chance at conception every 2 months?
Dannikins, obviously I am not the doctor but my understanding is that the idea that you ovulate from alternating ovaries is a myth - you can ovulate from either, both, or neither every month. Some people even have a 'dominant' ovary that they ovulate from much more often than the other. This may be problematic for you, because it tends to be the right ovary. Let's say that you ovulate from the right side 80% of the time...a lack of a right Fallopian tube would then drastically reduce your odds of pg. You ~may~ want to look into Clomid to ensure that you release eggs from both ovaries every month, but you should def. discuss that idea with your doctor first.
i dont think i have a fertilty problem, my last son was concieved within 3 months of my ectopic, but it may have been a fluke, who knows.
i was just wondering how much longer it might take to sway with one tube, since girl swaying can take longer anyway.
but if my right tube was dominant, then it may take quite a while...
i have also heard things like the other side tube can still get the egg etc, was just wondering if there is any truth to it.

Very true about not necessarily ovulating from an alternate ovary each month. Some of my patients I see including myself tend to ovulate 2 months from the right and then one month the left and another month to the right.
The other things I see is that a patient may ovulate 6 months from the one side and then all of a sudden it changes. No rhyme or reason.
Also our bodies are clever at rectifying or changing things to maximise reproduction or other functions.
