BD Update Question...

I was wondering what the latest is with BD in terms of frequency and timing?
I originally thought to DTD 3 days before I ovulated (OPK i think is the symbol?). However I keep coming across advice saying not to DTD prior ovulation/OPK but to in fact DTD ON MY OVULATION DAY! I know for a fact i conceived my son on my ovulation day so I am a bit nervous about this. Then, i read about how to lower DH sperm count by having him release himself and waiting for the final release be during BD.
So.... would it be wise to DTD ON my ovulation day AND let it me the ONLY ATTEMPT but also have this attempt in fact be DH third release of the day (release sounds better than load lol) that we use for insemination? Say he releases all 3 times within 12 hours?

For example: Lets say I ovulate. then that day DH releases himself at 9am, then releases at 2pm, then we DTD at 7pm we DTD for insemination purposes?

Don't get too caught up on how often DH releases. He can do whatever he wants. Timing of BD does NOT sway. You need to remember that. I got my fourth boy by BD'ing 3 or 4 days before ovulation. Having just one attempt in the fertile period is what sways pink. That could end up being 2 days before ovulation or even 1 day before. Are you using ovulation predictor kits (OPK)? If so, you would just abstain/let DH release on his own or DTD with protection until you get a positive kit. Have ONE attempt and then go back to using protection.

Also, trying to plan your sway to the smallest detail will sway blue. Just a fair warning ☺. I know it's hard when you're geared that way though.

Thanks!! But how do I know when during my window to DTD? The OPK tell me I have two high fertile days followed by two peak fertile ovulation days. Which day would we have our one attempt?

Have your attempt on your first peak fertile day.

This won't sway a boy since the egg is closer? Shouldn't we be reducing sperm count this way?

I don't think anyone on here tells anyone to BD on ovulation day because that is crapola odds of conception. If you're referring to O+12, that method does not work. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/tryi...9-no-12-a.html

Best odds of conception are on O-1 and O-2.

Timing doesn't sway (I posted the link with the scientific explanation for you) and in fact some studies have shown a teensy amount more girls conceived on O-1 and O Day. THere has been no rhyme or reason in the dozens of studies done on timing with every study yielding a different result because timing does not work. Whatever the reason you got a son, it was not because of the day you BD on.

None of the frequency patterns have earned their keep and using hte 3rd round for insemination will lower odds of conception so far you may as well take a birth control pill, especially if you're doing jelly or antihistamine or O+12. Plus, since you're only doing it that one day and spacing it many hours apart there's a risk it won't even deplete his sperm count anyway.

It's fine if you want to use a frequency pattern, just don't go overboard with it. If you want to do FR, fine, do 7-10 days before your one attempt and then make that one attempt the only release that day. Or, you can do hurry up FR where he releases once, dumps it, then you DTD again as quick as he can (within 6 hours ok, within 3 hours better, within one hour best) using only second batch for insemination. Or, you can do the compressed FR which is 2-3 releases for 2-3 days (not just the day of attempt) and then on the day of attempt, the attempt batch should be the second release of the day, but have it separated by more than 6 hours to be sure he's got enough left.

DTD at 7 pm on O Day after all that I think would be very low odds of conception and probably does nothing for your sway other than add anxiety of the sort that may even sway blue. :/ I know it feels counterintutive but the best way to get a girl is by being laid back and not overly focusing on these big complicated plans and schemes that take a lot of focus and determination to pull off.

Timing doesn't sway. It is largely at your discretion based on the sway that you want to have, what day to BD. If you really want to include timing (cutoff) you'd BD on either the first or second "high" day (but be aware that it's not unusal for people to get days and days of high on that kind of OPK sometimes). Most of us tend to BD on the day of first peak but it is NOT for timing. IT's because that is a good day of conception usually and since we are trying to get preggo with just one attempt, it makes sense for us to plunk that one attempt at a time of the cycle that is a good day of conception.

If you absolutely MUST do O+12 which I do not recommend at all and in fact I despise O+12 above all other sway tactics, but it's YOUR sway, then put that attempt 48 hours after the first peak reading. You probably won't get pregnant, but at least it's lower stress.

Thank you Atomic. I think its more the high sperm count DH has that I am nervous about. We got pregnant with DS right away and all the males in his family have all had boys for the past 4 generations and some were not planned. Very fertile so I am hesitant about a one attempt on O day knowing his sperm are athletes lol since I'm ttc a girl.

Who is telling you to do one attempt on O day???

Isn't O day my first peak day? So I should DTD O-2 then?
