TTC boy OPK help

I am now on CD 10 of our first TTC cycle. I am planning to use cheap OPK then move to CB advanced (smileys) once I get a positive. Just a few questions although I know everyone is different on timings, I'm trying to plan roughly when to DTD

Am I right in thinking that a first positive on a cheapy equates to a flashing smiley?
How soon after a first positive cheap OPK would you expect a solid smiley?
How long is the time window on a positive cheap OPK, like from the first true positive? I assume the surge lasts a while and I'm planning to test 3x a day (10/4/10) Is it a matter of one day or a few days? Could you miss it?
Roughly how long after solid smiley does OV occur? Leaflet says 24/48 hours? Have others found this to be true?
For TTC blue I'm planning on 3 attempts night of first solid, morning after and night after. does this sound ok? I believe in past I have DTD as soon as I have had a positive on cheap OPKS so I think I might be a one that Ovs a bit later. But I don't want to wait too long as that how I got my last DD (failed boy sway) I waited about 48 hours after positive OPK and done one attempt. I got a girl! Ive never used the CB advanced OPK before but I'm hoping they are more accurate.

Any advice much appreciated. I am excited nervous and just praying this is my turn. Praying and swaying. Love to all xxxx

First positive = PEAK reading. Solid smiley, not flashy

It depends on the sensitivity of the OPK. If you have a super sensitive one you would get a positive sooner than a less sensitive one, whether they are strips or digi's.

YOu'll ovulate an average of 24-36 hours after that first positive or peak on digital.

Yes, it's possible to miss, if your urine is dilute or you have a real quick surge.

Average of 24-36 hours, anywhere between 8-48 though and some people find it may even be as much as 3 or so days some months.

That is just what I want you guys to do - DTD night of positive OPK, again the next morning if possible, then again the following night. If you can sneak in another attempt or two sometime in there (even the next day) great! that would cover you in case you did go 3 days after first pos

Tons of us on here got girls trying for boys that way! We have found that one attempt sways strongly pink so whatever you do, try to get in there with at least 2 if you can. :)

1)It's over the span of 2 days - one day of positive, then the next day you DTD in the morning if you can and then again THAT SAME night.

Thank you for the info! I have another question to add for TTC blue. Should I stop after the 3rd attempt on day 2 after positive OPK? I have read that if you keep going on day 3 after positive OPK, it sways pink. Is that right? Should I stip after day 2

No, it doesn't, and you should keep going. What if your O is delayed and by stopping your attempts, you may end up with less sperm on hand to meet the egg (sways pink) and basically are doing a Shettles cutoff (which while I don't believe in it, many do)

This whole idea is based on O+12 timing. But that doesn't work, and even if it DID work, any egg that shows up would already be fertilized by the sperm in wait from the previous attempts before that final attempt (whenever it may be, on 3rd day of positive OPK or whatever) could even capacitate!!!

Do not stop having attempts until you are 110% sure you've ovulated.

Glad you asked as that was my next question. I've had my first sniff of a posative opk just now (it's not a posative yet but heading that way) and I'm really worried as my husband's hours mean some days a morning is going to be impossible. So say I get a posative in morning/tomorrow as I'm expecting too and we dtd on the evening. If we can't do next morning but do next evening, then following morning and poss evening will that be ok? Even though that might be 48 hours after first posative? It's funny how things you previously learned start haunting you and o+12 I always think girl. I'm trying to unlearn but it's hard lol

There is NO magic in waiting till the true positive. Only wait if you are a big believer in Shettles and are scared to risk an attempt that may be O-2.

I would have you guys attempt whenever there is a dark line that isn't quite positive. More attempts = better chance of boys regardless of timing; the idea to wait till true pos OPK is only for those ladies who really, really want to stick with Shettles timing.

The morning attempts are totally optional. Again, it's just a way to try and get those 3 attempts (since 3 attempts was 60% boys for us with PINK sways LOL) within the Shettles window. They aren't necessary and I never had morning attempts when I got my boys, just had a lot of intercourse coming into O time (2-4 attempts with all my boys)

YES YES YES it is fine to have attempt 48 hours after first positive OPK. THe odds are that the egg would already have been ovulated by that point, and if it hasn't, it's just adding more, more, more sperm to the mix. More sperm, more attempts = more boys conceived.

Please have a read of this essay it's all the many reasons O+12 cannot work. The only reason it ever seemed to was because one attempt sways so strongly pink. So it's a step in the wrong direction to have fewer attempts to try and avoid O+12!! http://genderdreaming.com/forum/tryi...9-no-12-a.html

Not to overcomplicate things atomic, but is the old "abstain a few days for stronger sperm" thing bunk then? I know the TTC blue chart showed high success for people that waited a few days (I think up to 4?) Then did the multiple attempts (all after frequent DTD before, I assume)

Once the fertile window opens, you're only adding more and more sperm to the mix. ALL those sperm have some chance to stay alive and make it to the egg. But if you're NOT in fertile window, then those sperm just immediately die and gain you nothing. Example:

BD daily starting CD 3, no sperm will survive until CD 11-12 for a CD 14 O and DH will be VERY depleted by then, so even BD 11,12, 13, and 14 may not add up to much and there's no "gas in the tank" because he's used up his raw materials having daily attempts back when you can't posibly even get pregnant from them, and it's harder for him to make any big batches at that point.

BD everv 2-4 days starting CD 3, sperm will have enough time to rebound between those attempts and additionally that pattern may encourage him to make a lot more sperm as well. Let's say you BD CD 10 (as a part of every 2-4 day pattern) then get positive on CD 12, have attempt that night, morning of CD 13, then again night of CD 13, and as per previous poster's question, BD once again on CD 14 (day of O) see how much better that works?? Yes, by the last time you BD CD 14 or 15 or whenever (cause keep going till you O!) he may be somewhat depleted but it's SOOO much better than starting back on CD 3, yk?? that leaves all the good stuff back when it can't possibly get you pregnant, and then all those daily attempts, CD 12, 13, 14, and even 15 if you O a day late or something, all those have a shot at the egg. If you O earlier even the CD 10 has a chance. IT's adding more and more sperm to the mix so even if it is a smaller batch by the last day, it's a smaller batch being added to other batches, if that makes sense.
