When I got pregnant with my son I was using opks and temping so I knew the exact day I ovulated. I found that I always would get my first positive opk in the evening and then my temp would spike the next day meaning I ovulated that night within 12 hours after my first positive opk. Since I ovulate so soon after my +opk wouldn't that really only give me a slim chance of getting pregnant by doing one attempt at positive opk each month? Should I try every 4 days instead?
Hi ThinkingofPink. 12 hours before ovulation is still good timing I think. Are you just starting TTC or have you been at it for a while? I went to e4d because my cycles were irregular and I was scared to miss my positive OPK because of clomid. There was piece of mind in e4d that at least I could say I got an attempt in even if I missed my +OPK.
Studies have shown that even with temping and OPK it is still possible to get the day of O wrong. Only way to really know is blood tests/ultrasound.
Additionally your cycle can change so just because it was a certain way back then doesn't mean it will always be that way.
It is fine not to do one attempt at positive OPK if you don't want to, whenever you have any doubts about one attempt at positive, just go to every 4 days. It's also getting good results for us. :)
Thank you both for the replies! We'll be just starting to ttc in late November (hopefully) so maybe for the first couple months I'll do one attempt at +opk and if I don't get pregnant I'll go to every 4 days.

Try using the cheap OPK strips from wondfo.. that might help pinpoint +opk... it might take a cycle or 2 to get use to reading it.
