Confused and unsure of next step.

Hello Ladies :)

I'm confused, frustrated and unsure of what step to take next. Everything was going smoothly until today lol. I'm just monitoring cycles and TTA before my first attempt next month, or January (TBD) and I used OPK's for the first time this cycle. Let me show you what I'm dealing with:

FF says I O'd on CD 15. I assume I would have had a +OPK if I had tested that evening,but I only tested in the AM that day. The following morning I got +OPK as well as that evening and the same the following day. Today is CD18 and I had a huge temp spike this morning with -OPK, so I was confident that FF is right, in fact, I actually thought I O'd on CD12 (see the dip?). Because of my confidence, we went ahead and BD'd without precautions and now I'm having O pains, I've been irritable all day and found blood tinged EWCM. :rolleyes: go figure.

Now what? I ALWAYS wait 3 days after confirmed ovulation before we let loose lol, and the one time I felt super confident, look what happens. What should I do now? I'm confused because I have ovulated on CD17 or 18 for ages, but because of the HE diet and supplements, I'm sure things changed.

I decided to just get a couple more BD sessions in just in case, not sure what else to do. Should I even worry? What is your experience with OPK's? If I didn't have the OPK data I think this would make more sense.

Based on temps alone I'm not sure you have Oed yet (although the pos OPK indicates that you did).

I have been seeing a very weird pattern with some people where their temp is up and downy, then raises about .3-.5 a degree and hangs out there for a week or so, and then has another rise and only after that does O happen. Since your temps are a little low anyway that makes me wonder if you have Oed (but taking into consideration the OPK, you probably did - just that I can't sign off on it as a done deal.)

My thinking is that you should have the attempts. If you Oed, then it won't hurt anything, and if you haven't, it may make the difference between a girl and a boy.

So this is what I have today:

Both yesterday and today, I took my bbt twice because I got up in the middle of the night. Both days my 2nd temp was much higher so I'm opting to use the first temps for both nights because the sleep stretch was much longer, although, I added my higher temp this morning out of curiosity and it changed my O day to CD17! I almost had a heart attack LOL.

Overall, my temps are on the lower side as I have hypothyroid. After starting the HE diet, my overall temperature did go up, which is fantastic considering temperatures are very low here in the winter and it gets very cold at night. My coverline temp for October was 97.35 and this month so far it is 97.62.

So, nothing left to do but wait 10 more days. In preparation for next cycle, how soon do you suggest I begin using OPK's? I will be taking them twice daily so I won't have the same confusion as this month.

This may sound extreme since you don't normally O this early but I generally have people start as early as CD 8-9 so they can see the progression from totally neg to positive, assuming that you could possibly O as early as CD 12-14. Weird things happen with swaying and it's not unheard of (especially with blue swayers) for them to start swaying and all of a sudden they O 5-7 days before normal.

But I would be sure sure sure to use CHEAP ones for that!!

If you are pretty confident you'll not O till CD 17 then I'd start 4 days before.

So far, it looks like O day is staying at CD15, which is great! There was almost no discomfort this time either, which in my opinion, shows improvement in fertility (considering my history).

I'll start the OPK's as soon as AF is over then. Also, I meant to ask you about guaifenesin, I used it this cycle and didn't really see much of an improvement, in fact, I only had 2 days of EWCM, then again, I was ill. Assuming I O on CD14 or 15, how soon beforehand should I start guaifenesin? Is it multiple doses per day or just once daily?

One last thing, how much preseed is needed? It's quite slippery so a little goes a long way as far as actual lubrication is concerned, but I want to make sure I'm as boy friendly as possible and I'd also like the tube to last! lol.

A lot of people start guan the day after AF ends and go thru 3 days past O using max dose every day. I don't know that I think that's neccesary, just that that is what a lot of people do. I generally have people do 5 DBO and go thru O day and take less than max dose. Totally up to you.

Re Preseed - that is something that a lot of people do report, that it's almost like too much of a good thing. There is no law that you even have to use it (I have 4 boys and have never touched the stuff) so if you do have a nice amount of EWCM then you may just want to roll with that. It is a good sperm safe lube though.

I had the big temp drop this morning and I've been extremely irritable since last night. It's safe to assume AF is on her way! Whew! looooool
