TTC Girl Timing
Hi Ladies,
I am about to start TTC a baby girl. From what I have seen on the site one attempt in the fertile period is recommended.
However, I was wondering if there are any stats on whether this impacts the time it takes to fall pregnant? I am 35 and DH is 40 so we would like it to happen sooner rather than later. We have no known fertility issues.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

We have an average of 3 months to conception.
If you were planning on doing other stuff to sway, a LOT of sway tactics are by far worse for odds of conception than the one attempt, so my advice is to keep the one attempt (that does work) and lose the stuff that doesn't work and cuts odds of conception (like timing, frequency, jelly/douche, antihistamine)

Thanks for the reply, I will stick to one attempt at positive OPK.

At first. We can change it up over time, but I want everyone to drop the stuff that doesn't work like frequency, timing, jelly, antihistamine BEFORE adding attempts.
We tried in 2012 keeping those thigns and adding attempts and that was our worst results in the history of the site. Since we started emphasizing one attempt our results went up and stayed there ever since.

Thanks for your help Atomic. What about before the OPK turns positive? Would say a couple of days before a positive OPK count as an attempt? Sorry if that's a stupid question!!

It can, but the thing is that you end up with so few sperm that there is nothing left to fertilize the egg. The longer you attempt before your surge, the less likely that you'll get pregnant, and by the time you get to 4 days before O or longer, the odds of conception are vanishingly small.
Also, it doesn't help if the OPK is delayed, then you're waiting around not sure what to do.

Thanks Atomic, sorry I didn't word my Q correctly. I meant would an attempt a few days prior to pos OPK and an attempt at pos OPK be counted as 2 attempts or do the attempts start counting at pos OPK. Sorry for the rambling and Happy New Year!

It depends on how far before the positive OPK it is. Your fertile window is really only O-3 thru O Day - while there are a few conceptions from O-4,5,6 they are rarer and rarer as the days pass and by the time o-6 rolls around it's like one in 10,000 or something crazy like that. So attempts that were like O -5-6 are so unlikely that they really don't count as an additional attempt. O-4 could go either way.
