One time attempt

Hi all.. So i am 35 and currently TTC a girl.. We have been trying about a year now.. mainly doing a one attempt 1-3 days before ovulation.. Once we dtd every day for 4 days prior to ovulation.. I currently do have the custom sway plan which advised me to do the one attempt method at first solid OPK... I just got a blinking smiley do i know ovulation is coming.. I read that a one attempt at my age gives me a 10 percent chance of getting pregnant.. after so many months of trying I'm getting so discouraged and wonder if anyone else has had s hard time getting pregnant with the one attempt.. or if any other ttc girl moms got girls with another attempt during fertile window?:baby2:

From what I've read you could maybe try the every 4 day method? X

I got lucky on my first month of trying with the 4dtd and when i got a solid smiley i also dtd...fx it will happen soon for you xx

Butterfly - this is our 1st month ttc#6 and we have just gone for the 1 attempt in fertile window. We would like a girl and this is the only thing we have never tried. I don't hold much hope of pregnancy this month but only time will tell.

CD8
CD14
CD20 +OPK

We will probably try e4d if this doesn't work.

Thanks and good luck to you! I'm getting so discouraged I feel it wont ever happen! My two boys I got pregnant so fast however I don't want to try the same method since it's boy frequency.. It's hard for me to be patient after a year of trying!! But I want that girl

Lucky you!!! did you get two attempts in your fertile window with that method?

I recommended that we start off trying your husband doing regular release to boost his sperm count + the one attempt WITHOUT TIMING. You were doing the Babydust timing method before which has not been great odds of conception and I did want you guys to be able to give it a fair shake with one attempt + regular release before ditching that totally. You did say you wanted the best sway, so I took that into account in my recommendation.

It is always your call to make if you want to add attempts. I feel that some of your months were probably very, very low to NO chance of conception with Babydust and because you did want the best sway, I compromised between the regular release (which will boost odds of conception) and the one attempt. But like I mentioned in your sway plan, we'll only do that for the first month or two before adding attempts. I would just hate to have you go from no chance of conception with Babydust to swaying blue without giving it at least a short pit stop with reg. release + one attempt just to see what happens.

I can assure you it is entirely possible to get pregnant at 35 and up with one attempt. People on here do it every day. I did it and it got me a daughter at 41. I suggest harnessing your inner Han Solo and saying "never tell me the odds" because most odds quoted by the Internet are completely inaccurate.

Now, if you do want to add attempts already that is totally cool, I'm fine with that. Just PLEASE don't do something like BD 4 days in a row. That's not even good odds of conception (which I can explain why it isn't if you'd like)! What I'd have you do instead is this - have sex every 4th day starting after AF ends and going through until when you're sure you have ovulated, even if it means going all the way through till your NEXT AF starts. What happens many times is that people miscalculate ovulation and have tons of attempts but they're early or late and so you need to be in with regular rounds of sex. Every 4th day has been good odds of pink and conception for us.

I still maintain I'd prefer you guys to give reg release plus 1 attempt at least a month before moving on. I feel like you did not even give yourself a real chance of conceiving during much of that year and I hate to see you (because you did say "best sway") completely give up without even trying it (especially based on a nonsense stat like 10% at 35, which is simply not true) but it's totally up to you. Every 4 days gets good results too and if you feel more comfy with that, totally cool.

In future months, if you've given every 4 days a try and gotten BFN then and only then we can add another attempt. But let's at least try to be a little conservative and not just give up totally and do a blue sway just to get pregnant. It will happen, it just needs to happen in the right way at the right time.

Everyone on here will testify that I tend to err on the side of conception FIRST and sway second. But I really do think you've not even given yourself a real chance at conceiving in many of the months you were trying and thus I think it's smarter to start with one attempt or e4d. Totally up to you but just explaining my thought processes.

:agree: because of this, because I know you want your girl, this is why I am still ahving you start with one attempt. :) We have to be careful not to do too much too fast especially since you've been at this for so long, I want this to be your pink happy ending here. :)

Thanks so much Atomic.. I just ovulated last night and did one attempt the evening of the first smiley face.. so I will start that 2 week wait!
