Trying to conceive a girl (new member)

Hi, I'm hoping I could get some advice and guidance off u ladies. We are totally desperate for a little girl. We currently have 5 sons & a angel baby who was our little girl (stillborn at 24 weeks). I have always fallen with every baby so easy, and when I say easy I mean the first slip up, or 1st to 2nd time trying, I inheriated mums fertile genes. We decided 2 years ago to try for a little girl and nothing was happening. It took me till 10 months ago to see a fertility specialist here in Australia. He has said I currently have unexplained infertility. As I was using opk and wasn't picking up lh surges. Then he put me to have a range of tests, bloods, scans, hsg etc. he then put me on Gemara 2.5 for 3 months with 2 evidrel trigger shots per month, 1 when my follicle was ready and 1 6 days later. Then he upped it to 5mg femara followed by 2 evidrel triggers for the past 6 months. I missed the triggers this month as I was away overseas in Greece on holidays but I still took the femara as told to do so. But I have done a test as I'm due for af in a couple of days to find a bfn. I still haven't had any success in getting pregnant and it's really affecting me in a huge way. My hope in asking this to you all is for help, advice or guidance. I have tears in my eyes writing this as I'm struggling because I feel as tho my dream will never come true. And I feel like I am failing as a wife to give my husband and myself what we truly long for. Are you able to give me some advice on what I can do to help sway for a girl as I think I am going wrong some where. On the femara I am on the 5mg day 2-6 as directed, then I am roughly getting a lh surge around day 14-16 but mainly 16. But my af is 28 days exactly only on the femara. We have been trying sometimes every 2nd night from days 10-16. Am I doing it all wrong? I'm sorry if this is so long but I am in desperate need of help. I would do pgd ivf but Australia doesn't allow it and I'm not sure when we could fly to America to do it. If I can get any advice and help from any of u ladies I would owe you all so much. This is all really breaking me to pieces and I don't know where to begin any more. I appreciate all your help in advance xoxo thank you. Also I'm not a small woman, I am 178cm tall, 97kg and almost 32yr old. Hubby is 182cm and 110kg and 34yr old. His sperm count was very good we were told as a sample was 6.8ml and 57% live and swimming.

Hi Krystal - can you please tell me what you're doing to sway??? Many of the sway tactics that are recommended on other sites are really really terrible for your chances of conception and so I need to be sure you're not doing any of that stuff.

Hi atomic, I am taking supplements, multivitamins & have only been trying to have sex 1-2 days before O. I don't eat a lot of red meat, or bread or any of that. I eat more protein then anything when it comes to meats. I don't eat breads ect. But I will look up your diet. As I have to be careful what I do eat because I had my gall bladder out. I just don't know where I'm going wrong. Like am I timing it wrong?

We're doing timed intercourse and it's usually Femara days 3-7 (2.5mg morning + evening), then Menopur (75, only mornings) days 8+9, and triggering with Ovidrel (250, once, any time of day) on CD 10, intercourse on day 11+12.
Hasn't worked so far though, so I'm not sure if this is helpful; esp as I only get an ultrasound on day 3 but not after taking the Menopur, which is probably why it's not working :-(

Just thought I'd mention that they're throwing in Menopur with me. Maybe you can ask your clinic if that'd help you too?

Hi sofull of hope, I am being monitored, I take 5mg femara in the mornings as directed, then I see my fertility specialist on cd12, then again on cd15-16 depending on follicle size & lh surge. I don't trigger till they tell me to do it. I get scans done on cd12 & cd15-16 depending when he wants me back in. I've never needed meds before to make me ovulate. But I just don't know where I'm going wrong. Like what is the correct time to have sex is it before O or on O? I hope u can fall soon too. I have 5 healthy boys, my daughter was my 2nd baby and she passed away still born at 24 weeks. I just long for that little girl and so does hubby. It's all just taking a toll on me emotionally. I've been trying for more then 2 years. Assisted conception with femara for 10 months.

Sorry to keep bothering you atomic, I hate to be a burden. I am going to try follow your diet, which I've had a read through. Will read more better again in the morning (10:18pm in Australia). What days do u recommend to BD in order to conceive a girl? Like is it prior to O or after? I am going to try abstain from all activity and just pick 1 day so just trying to work it all out. I use OPK and I usually get a positive lh surge around cd16 give or take a couple of days. Then trigger when dr tells me to. I appreciate all your help more then words can describe. Thank you

What supplements?

Yes, I think you need to ditch timing at this point. It doesn't work anyway and while one attempt may help, it is past time for us to give up swaying and prioritize conception now. The Femara will sway pink for you. It's very likely that the timing is off (so you are having an attempt when it's not even possible to conceive from it) or you just need more than one attempt to conceive and since timing does not work anyway it is time to move on from that.

I strongly suggest you use this method called "Sperm Meets Egg Plan" and you can read more about it here (just scroll down a little on the page, all the info is right there) Sperm Meets Egg Plan

I'm so thankful I haven't had to go through this (yet), so I cannot even begin to understand your pain. I think if you're being monitored, that's perfect, and they surely know what they're doing and you won't need any other meds then :-)
Quite frankly, if DH has no problems performing several nights in a row, I'd have sex both on the day before and on O-Day. You said you're using an OPK, so I'd go for the day you get your solid smiley and the one after that. One attempt does sway more but two is still girl-friendly, for all I know, esp in combination with Femara :-)
