As my doctor explained it to me, at this stage of gestation, it is sink/swim. Either the ball of cells develops just right or it won't implant. There are just too few cells and they all need to be doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing for your body to allow it to implant. The worst that will happen is that it won't implant.
It is only later on, once the pregnancy is established, that the fetus can survive and form defects.
