Need help! Midwife wants me to use Vitex [emoji31]
Hi ladies! Last week I visited my midwife due to several months of mid cycle bleeding. (She tested my thyroid which thankfully is functioning perfectly).
She does however want me to start Vitex because it may be a hormonal issue. I know that vitex is girl friendly [emoji31][emoji31] What else can I take as a hormone regulator that is boy friendly? Help!!

I've only ever had help me (I'm horribly sensitive to anything so herbs have always been my first stop).
Using it I conceived 2 boys. It was to address luteal phase shortness when ttc'ing (I used it to address PMS when not ttc'ing), and I only took it 3m then had a break, took 3 more, etc.
Just my two cents. There's always opposite stories but I'd rather try an herb than artificial hormones or other drugs because my body takes it like a nudge and it goes over well.

Not trying to start anything and apologies in advance (seriously - I'm not angry I am using your post as a jumping off spot and nothing more) but herbs ARE medication, they have medical effects and just because something is natural does not mean it is harmless. Botulism is natural. Strychnine comes from an herb. this whole natural vs. artificial dichotomy is not what people who profit from natural remedies would have you believe and Clomid is a hell of a lot safer than thousands of natural things. (putting soapbox away, I apologize, really not trying to start a fight at all and I do really really appreciate you sharing your experience, thank you)
I personally took vitex twice. I am not saying it's the demon herb (vitex can be ok, stay away from FUR tho becuase it's got too many potential contaminants) but someone who has had midcycle bleeding for months, it is imperative that they are thoroughly checked out for rare, but possible, life threatening conditions and I am coming more from the place not that vitex can never help anyone - it can, esp. PCOSers - but more that several months of midcycle bleeding is concerning and needs investigation, not a bottle of herbs chucked at someone's head on the way out the door.
I didn't say it was harmless. It is not a medication however. I don't pretend it's benign... which is why I take herbs because they do things, but they don't overpower my body like artificial medications.
Every person should get more information about their body's health and treat it as it needs - I did a $250 hormone saliva panel for a month because it was the best information I could get.
Vitex helps far more people than those with PCOS, I'm not sure saying those are only who it helps is really fair. But if you don't like it or recommend it, I don't mind at all.
Months of any issue should be addressed, not guessed at.
