Fertile Window Question

DH is leaving town for 1 week on Saturday, I'm likely to O the following Wednesday/Thursday, while he is away. I thought we can BD Saturday before he leaves. I know it's a stretch, but we might as well try just incase I O early. HOWEVER, we BD twice this week already, so not in my Fertile Window per se, but could it be an issue affecting the 1 attempt? That would leave only a 3 day window between Saturday and the last time we BD'd.

I know for a girl sway we want to do just one attempt during the fertile window, but what is the fertile window exactly?

Hi and welcome, Jd!

I want you to do exactly that - BD last minute before he goes and then as soon as you can when he gets back (even if you think you've ovulated, just to cover in case of delayed O). The earlier attempts will not count in the "one attempt" as they're too far from the arrival of the egg.

The fertile window runs from O-3 thru O Day. Rarely, some ~may~ be able to conceive from o-4 and even more rarely (I mean like vanishingly small odds) O-5 but we do not count those in the fertile window attempts because if there is anything left over from an early attempt - and this goes for o-3 attempt as well - it will fertilize the egg before the second attempt will have had a chance to capacitate. So if you end up having attempt O-3 and O Day, or o-4 and O-1, for example then if there's anything from the first attempt it will have its shot before the later batch really has enough time to capacitate and then if there wasn't anything left, the later batch will have time to capacitate and hit the egg.

Please note, you can read a LOT of misleading info about this online. But studies done within the past decade using cutting edge technology have proven that O-4, 5, 6 attempts have very slim chances of conception and not the rather high numbers that some sites still have posted (these are based on studies done back in the 70's that are inaccurate)

We were not expecting this trip and this was going to be our first month attempting a sway, so I still wanted to try. We'll see what happens.

GOOD NEWS! I got a BFP yesterday, so we did something right =) I'm hoping for a girl, but we shall see. We already have two busy little boys.

I did notice that when I was pregnant with my boys, I knew right away. Where as, this time around, I didn't even think I was pregnant.
