Clomid, RE advice. Need help!!
I'm so confused on how to go forward. After 1 m/c and 2 chemicals we sought the advice of a specialists. Over the past month my husband and I went thru a battery of tests.
The results of the test were all normal basically except : Vit D was low, progesterone (CD 21) was 5.35 which apparently is very low and a HSG revealed a possibly insignificant spot found on my uterus. Good news: ultrasound done on showed I had 3 follicles on each ovary.
The advice of RE was to come back on cycle day 6-10 of my next cycle and do a procedure with a scope to check the spot on my uterus to rule out if it may be a polyp, etc. If all is good then I would start Clomid next cycle. I asked how the clomid would help and he said that it's possible my low progesterone was keeping me from getting thru the first weeks of pregnancy and he called it "weak ovulation" and that the clomid could give me the needed boost to get thru.
I am very hesitant and afraid of taking any fertility drug because of the risk of multiples but I desperately want another child and a sibling for my son.
My question still is: What is the benefit of Clomid? If I am ovulating on my own, why do I need something to help me ovulate? Does it help with progesterone?
Also, these past two cycles have been very short which is concerning to me because my cycles have always been very normal (28-30 days). Last cycle was 25 days and I am on CD 21 now and already having light spotting.
HELP!! So confused

Question about Trigger Shot
Since we are on the topic, I wanted to know if you have any opinions/advice about getting a trigger shot. I spoke RE yesterday and said the plan going forward would be to take Clomid, then come in for an US and if I had one or more mature follicles we would do trigger shot and then have an attempt. Does the trigger shot increase chances even more of having multiples? At this point, I have decided to take the Clomid and take the 5-8% risk it carries for multiples because I know I can't sustain a healthy pregnancy at this point on my own but I don't want to increase the odds or put myself at risk for multiples anymore than that.
