Clomid and Ectopic pregnancy please help!

I have two boys, then ectopic pregnancy, then a girl.
5 years ago, before I had my daughter, my doctor prescribed Clomid and trigger shot for me. I forgot what the reason was:(
That cycle I had the ectopic pregnancy.
Now, I am trying to sway for a girl. I do LE diet, exercise, and I started clomid yesterday without prescription . I couldn't sleep because I was too nervous because I read somewhere that one of the clomid's side effects is ectopic pregnancy:(
Is that true?! was clomid a cause of my previous ectopic pregnancy?
since I had an ectopic pregnancy before, am I at risk?
Should I quit?

Other studies have shown NO link and that the perceived correlation was because the people who used Clomid had underlying fertility issues that upped their rates of ectopic slightly. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2698906 Some of the studies that claimed to find a link had animals who were given Clomid "chronically" which means many doses for a long time and not just for a couple months. While it is possible that there's a legitimate cause and effect, it's a very small risk because if it wasn't we would not have continued to use Clomid for millions of people since the 60's. Things that have dangerous side effects for most people fall out of favor.

We have tons of people on here who use Clomid and none of them had an ectopic. But if it's worrying to you by all means stop taking it. It's not a necessity to sway with. You are always at higher risk of ectopic having had one in the past, unfortunately.

So in your opinion, what is the reason behind ectopic pregnancy?!
If I get pregnant, How can I find out before it gets worse?

Most ectopics are caused by inflammation or infection in the tube that created some blockage, scar tissue from old injury to the tube (from inflammation or infection) or endometriosis where for reasons we don't totally understand menstrual tissue grows in the tube. A few people have a birth defect or fibroid growth that might cause the egg to be unable to move down the tube. Some are unexplained. The notion with Clomid causing possible ectopics is that Clomid might have a negative effect on the cilia in the tubes that move the egg into the uterus but the vast majority of ectopics are related to those other things, leaving the Clomid to be speculated about as possibly a cause of some of the unexplained ones.

Most doctors would take a wait and see approach and see if you develop symptoms or funny reading with beta test results and then do an ultrasound. If you're lucky it may be your doc wants to be proactive and do an ultrasound even without symptoms but early ectopics are invisible on ultrasound. It is possible to get lulled into a false sense of security by a too-early ultrasound, so it actually makes sense to wait till symptoms develop OR until the pregnancy is far enough along so it would be more likely to be visible on an ultrasound.
