Warning, very TMI in reguards to sperm count/abstinance

Hello! This is pretty gross so i'm just warning you lol I'm actually embarassed asking this..
No, we aren't TTC yet but I have this question for when we do.

Does a lot of c** equal more sperm/higher sperm count? Sorry I don't know another word for it other than "the" c word lol.

I really don't want to go into a lot of detail cuz it's embarssing lol but DH had zero privacy for the last few weeks of deployment and when he got back after a 10 or 12 day abstain for him it was 2-3x the normal amount. which throws me for a loop b/c if we decide to sway, I was going to abstain as both DS's were frequent DTD. Now, I feel like there's no point. I wouldn't think more "c word" lol would mean more sperm count meaning more y's in there also.

Yes generally if the man abstains for a long period of time the more sperm will be in his ejaculate. So ladies who are swaing blue will try to get this build up before an attempt because high sperm numbers sways boy. Ladies swaying pink will do frequent release before an attempt to lower the sperm numbers to sway girl. I think you mean you were DTD frequently in which case you had a lot of sperm going in and you ended up with boys? Rather than frequently DTD, you need to get your hubby to release his sperm into a condom or somewhere else and then have your attempt if that makes sense?

How about if you tried for him to release 12 hrs before your actual attempt? That way then there will naturally be less in the bag so to speak lol:bigsmile: I know this was the case with one of our girls, I meant to get DH the night before for a blue attempt, lets say everything went wrong, so I got him the next morning anyway so as not to waste an egg and got our last girly:)

Cinss, never thought of it like that! Yes we DTD frequently meaning there was a lot in there. DS2 i wouldn't say we DTD frequently at all that month (not trying) but a few times in the same week that resulted in him. I know with InGender and other places they say to abstain, then do a 3 day cut off. So, you are supposed to get him to release very frequently, then do a cutoff of O+12? I'll actually be taking Clomid when I do try. My low body fat from running finally caught up to me and I don't have cycles anymore, dr will put me on clomid when we are ready.

The amount of semen isn't a good indication of sperm count. There will probably be more after a long abstain, however it's likely that many of them will be dead or damaged in some way.

We do things a little differently to IG over here and you'll also need to do something different if you're on Clomid - I'll post a few threads which may interest you:

Yes, um, not to be gross also, but my DH has the highest normal volume of semen but a super low sperm count. So it doesn't correlate.

No lots of semen does not equal lots of sperm. especially not after 10-12 days. I think it would be a lot's of dead sperm after that long wait.

1) No, it doesn't. You can have a lot of semen and very little viable sperm in it. There may be sperm in it, but it will be yucky, dead, sick, and generally not good for making a pregnancy. We know this for a fact because a member on here had her husband's sperm analyzed, and he had a huge sample with barely any viable sperm in it.

2)Of COURSE that having been said, a tiny amount of semen by definition can't have as large an amount of sperm as a large load with all good sperm in it could have, but we're not talking about two batches of equally healthy sperm. When a guy abstains, over time he stops making less sperm (still makes some) and the sperm in the batch die off over time so you end up with overall, less healthy sperm in the sample regardless of how much semen he makes.

Abstain does tend to sway pink but it's not from making more X sperm, it's because for reasons we don't really understand, lower numbers of sperm/lower sperm quality seem to sway pink even tho the numbers are still 50-50.
