What do you think? The shots are of the same baby - ignore twin A written at the bottom! Not sure what that is about but there is only one on there!:)Attachment 11906
Slightly different shot

I'm guessing girl.... good luck
What was the gestation? slight boy lean for me
I'm going to have to guess boy too. Looking at the spin and nub there appears to be a slight angle which could increase as the weeks move on (not sure how many weeks you are). Beautiful baby :)
im leaning girl
If this is over 12 weeks, I'd very very very slightly lean girl.
I think I would go girl here....
Was this from the 1st pic? I saw that angle but even greater when the baby was moving around and thought boy but then the tech totally freaked me out by saying that she thought girl. She even drew diagrams to explain nub theory to me!;) has anyone else had a tech predict on a 12 week scan?
I kind of wish she had just done the standard measurements and left it at that as I really don't have the spare time and energy to be obsessing like this LOL. Will give myself another day of looking at everyone else's scan and then pack to reality and preparing for out move on Tuesday.
I am 12 weeks one day so still plenty of time to angle up. I really hope it doesn't though. I am trying to keep an open mind as I think it could go either way and don't want to get too invested in either result.
Thanks for your guesses ladies. Do you think there is a nub in both pics?
slight girl lean
Girl guess from me:)
I'm going 100% girl .. that looks nothing like my baby at 12 weeks... my baby had a penis already! Haha... I am really really sure this is a girl Emily :)
Yah, based on the first pic. To me there isn't a nub in the second pic I don't think. That's funny the tech knew about nub theory, maybe she's good at guessing! I only say boy because of the slight lean and being 12 weeks it still rises apparently (heard several ladies say that 13.5 weeks is the best because things don't rise anymore after that). I feel like most girl nubs are super flat and very straight.. only reason why I'm slightly leaning boy. I wouldn't bet my children on it or anything though ;)
Guessing girl :)
Hmm. Tough call. I think that I will lean a bit pink. It still does have time to angle. But if the tech was knowledgable about nubs and was guessing girl, I think I'll stick with that side, since we only have a couple picture and she probably saw a lot more.
Nubssessing is a hairy beast in itself. Good luck moving on ;) You are not alone with the feeling of obsession.
I say girl. Please check mine.
I am leaning girl too :)

Slight girl lean from me :)
Thanks for being so honest. That is exactly what I thought when I saw the nub and then she floored me with its a girl! Is it possible for nubs to move around? It looked more angled at times and at others completely flat! Annoying to be obsessing when I had taken the decision not too. Especially as DH is thrilled and convinced she is right. I was soooooo happy that the bean was healthy that I didn't need anything else to float out on cloud nine!
Because of the move I won't get another look till 20 weeks :(
Another friend IRL just told me she got a nub guess from her doc at 12 weeks too so maybe hat is something they are starting to do here. Weird as it is sooo early.
Ok so that is 12 girl
3 boy (including my guess)
Thank you all so much for your guesses. The ratio is exactly what I hoped for - enough pink guesses to give me hope but also some blue so that I don't get carried away and potentially disappointed later on if my hunch turns out to be right.
The tech said the nub was flattish but the spine was a bit curved so that the angle is still good for a girl. I thought that if the spine wasn't flat it couldn't be used for nub guessing? Is that right?
How funny that no one can see a nub in the second pic - that is the one I thought looked girly but perhaps I am not as good with nubs as I thought.
Based on first pic I'd totally guess girl. I wouldn't hazard a guess on the second pic as I don't really know what I'm looking at.
As for the tech guessing, I'd say her votes got to count for many of ours - particularly as she will have seen it lots, including it being in the optimal position which I suppose can happen to fast to snap a pic of. That being said I also asked my tech if she knew about the nub theory, she was like 'the what?' I said it was to do with the position of the genital tube and gender of the baby, she said nothing and moved down there, I was like 'oh its a boy' and she said (very calmly) 'I would have said girl' but said nothing more on the matter... They don't like to predict early here as people abort based on gender. So I don't know if she did know the theory but not by that name or if she didn't but just happened to think girl. Long story!! But I think the fact you can say with certainty that your tech did know the theory and guessed girl is pretty cool!!
As for the spine, I thought the idea was to use the angle of the bottom of the spine as your guide for comparing the angle of the nub?
She was a super cool tech - very young and had all the time in the world to explain things to us. She obviously knew from my age that I would be worried about the scan so took a good while explaining how awesome my little ones figures are. When she heard that I had two boys she went back over the bub in a few different angles and said yep, girl - at this stage. That is what is making me question the tiny tilt. She said that it could easily change.
Docs here are usually colder but very professional. The last one barely spoke to me during DS2s scan.
Sounds pretty positive to me! The one thing you can be sure of is its not definitely a boy!! So if things can change and that's the way you want to see it then you are only in the same position as you were before the scan.
I'm hopeful for you though that this is your girl, think you've got a great chance!!
Thanks tree.
That looks pretty girly to me! I also think your tech sounds fantastic! Crossing my fingers and toes for you that we are all right!
I think if the tech was pretty confident you have a decent shot! I'd have like a 65/35 percentage for it being a girl so that you won't be totally bummed if it turns out boy, but you probably have a better shot at it being girl. Ah, these things are so hard... too many people recently have had all girl guesses and get a boy so that why I didn't want a nub shot because I knew I'd OBSESS too!! lol! Good luck.. I think you have a great shot at this being your DD :)
I'm leaning pink, but it is on the early side to say for sure, of course.
i think girl. First pic looks girly, second pic I thought maybe a little boyish but when I zoomed in on it, it looked girly too. :fx: :pinksperm:
girl
That looks girly to me! Woohoo!!
I think girl x
Maybe girl xx
I would trust your tech. My second pregnancy I had scan at 12w5d and my tech did a nub guess. She was right. :) I think more techs are getting into this now.
I think its a girl!! Fingers crossed for our pinkys!!! Xx
So, it looks like I am going to have to wait till 20 weeks to find out. The cheeky scan I was hoping to fit in at the airport would probably make us miss our flight!
I think girl!!! I hope mine looks like this tomorrow x
I spoke to a friend who is expecting her first boy and ....( Long story short and all that) we had the same tech who guessed girl at 12 weeks. My friend was thrilled about th emits take as she already has a girl but I am obviously not;)
Just cause she was wrong with her, doesn't mean she will be with yours. The nubs could look exactly the same...but friends angled up after she guessed and yours will stay down!
Thanks again for all your guesses ladies. It is a girl! We are thrilled.:)
Waaaahooo!!
