TP yea I'm sure those "what ifs" are scary!! Really glad you are OK and hopefully it will NOT happen again!!!
Hannah glad your nausea is getting better! Mine seems to be getting worse :( 10 weeks today. I'm already really over it. Hoping it doesn't last too long. And the fatigue... I just want to sleep all the time!! And then there's the heartburn and constant crazy man burps! LOL I'm really pretty whiny these days!
Ugggh so my next appt is on Thursday and I still can't decide whether to do the NIPT. I called the doc's office today and it sounds like they use two companies for the tests - the one that does Panorama and one that has a test called Prelude. My doc said that the NIPT can't tell both genders on twins but according to Panorama's website, they can tell us both. DH doesn't want to find out this early though and so even if the test could tell us both genders he's pushing against doing so because he's worried that if we find out it's two boys it's going to crush me too much and make the rest of the pregnancy too hard. He's probably right. I'm thinking maybe I should ask them to check gender though (again - if they can find out both), but just not tell us until we decide we want to know. At least then it would be in their files if we decide we want to find out before the anatomy scan. I'm also worried about false positives with the tests... Anyone have any experiences with that? According to Panorama's website their false positive rate is very very low but then when I Google there are forums with lots of women saying they had false positives (with Panorama and the other tests). I don't know - bleh I hate making these kinds of decisions sometimes :)
ABC, I know -- the NIPT is somehow more stressful!! The false positive rate is REALLY low though-- like, really low. I am still confused how they could possibly know both twins gender with one of the NIPTs!! I didn't think b/g twins could be distinguished with those tests yet.
And ladies, symptom wise: I am having KILLER heartburn. I had mild, normal HB towards the end with DD that was easily manageable... but this is pretty rough and I'm only 15 weeks. Has anyone experienced this before?!
Yea from what I've read I think Panorama uses a bit different methodology for how they analyze the DNA than the other companies and they've figured out a way to distinguish between the twins DNA. I don't know - guess I'll talk to the doctor about it tomorrow :) Yea I do find these tests stressful though. With DS1 we didn't do any testing and I really didn't worry about it too much. With DS2 we did the NT/12 week bloodwork and I stressed until we got those results. But I think being "advanced maternal age" now, carrying twins, and having had 3 m/cs in the past year all has me more freaked out now.
I have some heartburn already this pregnancy - didn't have it at all in my last two pregnancies. It's not fun! I know on the July/Aug/Sept due date board they were recently talking about different meds they had tried for it - maybe you could take a look on there for some ideas!
