UK SMOG Wannabes - March

Indigo - congratulations! When he arrives it will be easier I promise you! I popped back to ig for the first time in ages last week and it made me feel sad to core. Partly because I spent years there ttcing which was sad times. Sad because some people I knew for years was still chasing the dream. Sad because a part of me will want a dd forever. You be sad because for every bad feeling you can find two more great reasons to have another little boy. Wait till i finally get out of my pjs and do the school run - no one will be feeling sorry for me with my three handsome kids I gaurantee it!

Hi petal nice to see you ;-) I have recorded it. Today is the first day I haven't cried with hormones or pain! Good god it's not easy! Plus it's like both dh and me have totally forgotten how to deal with newborns. Baby puked on dh just now and dh acted like it was red hot lava, k changed baby on the sofa without the change mat and he peed a pint over the sofa! Honestly we are clueless all over again!

Maybe, i do get sad wondering if ds3 will be our last baby, i would only have another if we done pgd but i cant see that ever happening!! Always got something more 'practical' to buy, sigh.
How are your big boys with their new brother, bet the adore him :-) My ds2 (he's 7) said to me in the car today that he has 2 special memories, his first was when he came home from nannies and met his baby brother for the first time and the other was when we went to lanzarote 5 years ago lol x

Lol, i know what you mean about forgetting, we have 7 years between ds2 and 3, but its also nice as its like having your first born all over again and i love getting to spend time with ds3 alone whilst my big boys are at school :-) x

I think I would do PDg if money was issue. Right now I can't have four kids fit into my three bed semi and I can't do PDg without the money I need to put down for a deposit. It's one or the other and being 38 next month I don't have much time left for either. Might have to asky mum for a loan. Never say never!

How sweet what your ds said about meeting his brother. It's nice having a bigger age gap sometimes. I was just thinking how sweet it will be at christmas with three kids getting excited. Lots of lovely things to come. First smile, first step, the first time they tell you they love you without prompting. Oh and the first night I don't get to bed after 1am! Zzzzz

Deaks, I had terrible M/s with ds2, but it was tons worse this time, but was told that was as it was a twin pg and possibly girls? so not quite sure??

Babymad, that's sweet that the boys get excited when you show them things, mine do too and ds2 would buy the whole of mothercare's toy section for them if he could! Another mum told me in a lovely way.......(she has 4 boys, 2 are twins) when I was pg with the twins (b4 I knew girls) that I should hope for boys as when a family has less girls then the mother is not the 'apple of everyones eye' as the wee girl will be fussed over, but if you have more boys, you will always be their no 1 'girl' and it's the best feeling ever. Took me a while to think about it, but since then a few other mums (with mixed families) have agreed that and said 'sometimes' that is so true and they would prob get alot more affection and attention if they were the only woman in the house. Every family is different, but now, in my family I am lucky and looked after well my all my men folks, but know that will change when the girls come as my side of the family is male dominated, these babies are 1st grand-daughters for my parents, they have 4 grand-sons. That's all fine by me, but do understand what the other mums meant and you will then the 'apple' of 5 men's lives..... for always! Hope all that made sense??

Petal, aww, bless him!! I will have a 5 and a half and 9 and a half yr age gap between the babies and the boys, but that has suited me fine!! Personally, I don't think I'd of coped with twins had ds2 not been at school! My eldest (who is 9) is super tolerant of ds2 (5) and is an amazing big bruv! He's always looking out for him at school and helping him choose lunches and watching out for him, ds2 doesn't know how lucky he is!! He puts up with so much from him, prob TOO much sometimes!! I just wonder what kinna big bro ds2 will make? He's so excited and know he will love them dearly. But the bigger age gap for me has been a blessing as like u, when they arrive I'll only need to attend to them when boys at school!

Went to playgroup this morning and told them all that this is a boy and I think I did really well at seeming excited. Mostly nice comments too. I'm sure I will be OK. So many of us have been through it and come out the other side.

so glad your feeling okay about it all indigo! helps when other people close can be nice about it too.

deaks - with both ds's i had no m/s at all felt great throughout both pregnancies. same cravings (sponge) and no food/smell aversions what so ever. Did suffer from acne with both throughout but abpart from that felt normal.

with this pg i had m\s since week 6 till 12\13. couldnt stand the smell of pizza and kebab especially from 1 certain shop and couldnt eat it. urghhh. No cravings at all. got really swollen sore boobs after my bfp but then the went back to normal but now i think they have started getting bigger and are quite itchy which i never had with both ds's only after giving birth to them did my boobs swell. i have been burping alot this pg and my back always hurting. even though my pregnancies are different i still feel this one is a boy and everything is tricking me to believe it isnt. i keep looking at my scan pics from 12 weeks and on one im sure it looks a boyish nub. i never asked the sonographer to get a nub shot as i knew it would drive me crazy so was hoping to get ones that was a full body profile with the legs but the 2 she gave me looked like they might be nubs or im just thinking there nubs and there not. ill soon know is 14 days time but im not holding on to much hope anymore. In a way im sort of glad i got these scan pics with boyish looking parts otherwise i would have been pretty convinced i was in with a high chance of being told girl and get my hopes dashed.

Maybebaby ~ I'm breastfeeding Serena and i breastfed the boys too and it has always been painful in the first 2-3 weeks or so for me so it might just be a case of hanging in there. I know it's terrible though when your nipples are sore/bleeding and you just want to cry and give up.. been there, experienced it and bought the t-shirt! no fun! Go to the open clinic and see the experts, perhaps your baby doesnt latch on properly.. if he's took the skin off it definitely sounds like that's the case. I drenched my nipples in lanolin cream this time for the first few weeks and it helped alot. dont know what else to suggest really other then hang in there, it will get easier! and soon your little one will be breastfeeding like a champ with no discomfort for you!

Babymad ~ dont know if it helps at all but i cant see why anyone would pity you for being a 'boy mum'. Whenever i see pictures on fb of your boys i always think "my god, what a beautiful family she's got" and it's the truth! you have the most beautiful, happy little boys and your family certainly looks like the perfect family to me!

Maybe, im in the same boat, its either move house or pgd, but like you we are in a 3 bed and cant afford to do both! but then i feel bad for the boys, that they deserve a bigger house and they should come first, i dunno :-/ I think im coping so well with the gd because in the back of my mind i may one day be able to do pgd, i try not to think about it too much as i know the reality is it may not happen, nice to dream though:-)

Yes petal having the dream takes the edge off. Me and dh went looking at cars today. He wants a ford s max and a bigger car would be nice. Plus ds1 is bright and if focus on my kids they could all go to uni and have good lifes. I think it's better for us as a family to give our boys a good life than keep on with the dd thing. But I can't say never - not yet.

Sunset went to the clinic today. It helped lots. Every midwife at that hospital knows me! I live there!!! He didn't have a great latch but it's going to take a while for the soreness to go. Midwife told me take painkillers for 48 hours so I will do that. I fed ds2 for six months but I can't remember when it stopped hurting. I was asked if I was going for my football team but I just laughed. Those comments honestly don't upset me at all. Only need two more then it's five aside :-)

I breastfed all my boys and never had sore nipples - the only time they started to go that way was when I decided to attempt feeding DS2 as a newborn in a cradle hold without propping my boob up! For me, so long as I hold baby across my body and prop my boob up with the hand on the side I'm feeding from I have no problems. Have you tried some different feeding positions?

Wow loads to catch up on sorry for going AWOL

I have been on the computer solidly since Monday but in a much more productive form than my browsing of forums/facebook/ebay and blogs that has gone on in the past.
Maybe don't know how you do it as a job my eyes and back hurt and I have such an awful headache!
Business should Launch next week just waiting on a few bits to put the plan into action and create some stock.
Gone slightly awol from original furniture painting idea until I officially finish work. That has the most profit margin but this idea is easier to do alone side working at the moment but only has a small profit in it for me. I hope it's something you ladies will be interested in so will post it on here before I launch on facebook and get some feedback.

Deaks I'm really enjoying my break from swaying not that i've gone crazy I have mostly been living off of biscuits and decaf tea over the last week. So not teribly healthy. I will probably revert back to a low key sway next month. Do you have a 12 week scan date yet? Will you be asking for a nub shot at the scan?

Zanacal i'm the same I think I must have leather nipples because both my boys got chapped lips in the first week of feeding and my nipples were fine lol. The best tip I can give for breast feeding is, tummy to tummy and nipple to nose. So not to feed them in the same position as you'd cradle them in your arms but with their tummy actually touching yours.

Congratulations on your little boy Indigo, sorry you never heard girl. I'm sure he's going to be a fab addition to your family x

Hi Wishing, hope ur well? When are u starting ur sway? still April?

I can't offer any BF help at all, I managed to BF ds1 for 4 days before getting Mastitis and Dh had to call the doc in as I was literally bonkers! Was confused and sleepy, so doc told dh to give him a bottle and let me get over the infection.
Ds2 I managed 3 wks, which was awful, I was SO depressed about it all, my milk was coming out so fast that he was choking and vomiting constantly and had terrible reflux, my dad then had a stroke when he was 3 wks old and I had to spend so much time at the hosp I gave up and gave hime a bottle.

So this time, as much as part of me wants to try BF, I'm not! Dh has begged me to seriously think what's best for us all as a family and doesn't want to see me confused or depressed again. He's happy they will be bottle fed, then he can help, or I'd be so exhausted. Was a difficult descion to make after starting to BF both boys, but best for me and my family. I have a friend who BF her last 2 kids only and they are the sickest kids ever!! So makes me wonder what is the best thing to do. Although out of my 2 boys, ds2 was fed longer (not that much) but is def the healthier kid. :confused:

Inglewood ~ I don't blame you. I can tell you right now that there is no chance on earth I would ever breastfeed twins, not fully anyway. I personally do believe breastmilk is best for baby if it only comes down to comparing breastmilk to formula milk but life isn't that easy and there is one thing that's more important than how you feed your baby/babies and that is a happy mummy! no baby can thrive without a happy mama, so if you feel bottle feeding is what's best for you and your family then it is what's best for your babies too in my opinion. Your girls are gonna be far better off being fed from the bottle than having a confused and depressed mummy all for the sake of breastmilk. So don't beat yourself up, you've done a good choice!

((hugs)) I understand.. i think we can all relate to such feelings since we have all found our way to smog in one way or another.. just thought i'd say you have a very beautiful family and i cant see how anyone would pity you for being a 'boy mum'..

Inglewood I think your brave bf ds2 after what happened with ds1. I think feeding is a personal choice. I don't enjoy it really but not trying feels worse for me. I fed ds1 for six weeks and got so sore I would feel physically sick when he woke up and cried for food. I would dread his touch. Nothing is worth that. I gave up but felt bad for months and months after when I should have been proud I tried.

My main reason for breastfeeding is mostly because i was born in sweden which is a breastfeeding nation so breastfeeding has sort of been the obvious thing to do for me.. and let's not forget that i'm far too lazy to bottle feed with all the washing, stearilising and keeping track of how many bottles my baby has and how many ounces she takes in a day lol much easier to just get the booby out :p

I don't think I'd bf twins either tbh, altho I do bf as well, I often feel quite tied down by the process. I enjoy the experience don't get me wrong but it's quite demanding at times! Imagine that with two babies, you would literally be like a cow all day long. That's enough to drive anyone insane!

Sunset I'm the same, far too much effort and expense to bottle feed! Lol

Friday :D :D cant wait for the weekend to begin! ds1 and ds2 is on their last day of anti b's today so taking them to the toy shop later so they can pick out a toy as a reward for taking all their medicine.. although saying that, it's been a real struggle to get ds1 to take his antibiotics this time.

Hi everyone, not much to report here. I went for a sight test today and my prescription has changed (my eyesight has got better!) which is likely what was making my eyes hurt! I've been worrying about lack of movement these past couple of days but I think baby has moved position because when she does move it's wriggling and it's kind of somewhere inside rather than near the top of my tummy iykwim? I went crazy and ate an ice-cream, some sweets and a bottle of lucozade earlier to see if I could wake her up instead of phoning the maternity ward in a panic! She's having a little wriggle now though thankfully. My maternity replacement has started at work now so I'm training her all the time and my throat is getting sore! I have 3 more full weeks before my maternity leave starts (3 more of 'my' 20 hour full weeks anyhow!) with a bit of a break over the Easter holidays so the end is in sight!

Thanks for all ur support, it was a hard decision, but I know best for me. Although I said to Dh if 1 or 2 of them end up poorly and in Special baby care for a while, I'd def express milk for them to have.

Ds2 told me it's 10 sleeps now...OMG! Got a call from hosp yest, I have a Urine infection (they sent my sample off on tues) so got some Penecillin to take..yuck! But must be done, even tho it gives me tummy ache.

Did I tell u all that's it's an afternoon c-section that I'll be having? Really dissapointed :( as when the boys come up, I still prob won't be able to walk!! Last time, I was vomiting and really sore 5hrs post op. Don't want the boys to see me like that. Dh can stay till 10pm, so I can get up (eventually) get a shower etc before he leaves, but babies will be hours old and I'm dreading him leaving me... Said to my mum, if I'm really poorly, or baby/babies, then prob best not to come up with the boys till the next afternoon, which I know will be SO tough on my mum, but can't have her up and not MIL who will be at my house with her and the boys. A hard call to make, but I told them all that Dh and I will decide on the day, although my MIL will say "what's the fuss about, we should still come up". Dh annoyed me last night about his mum coming, she hasn't been in my home for over a year!!!!!! we have to visit her and she thinks she's a flippin saint for coming to watch the boys. If it was my descion entirely, I know they's much rather be with my mum who they see alot as she's fun and had planned to take them balloon and gift shopping while I was in hosp, now she can't. Dh's mum will plonk them in front of xbox and Tv. But I'm not here, so it's up to him who wants around. Then he had the cheek to moan that my mum will "do his mum's head in" with her excitement while they wait here to hear the news!! The cheek!!!!!!!!!! She has 3 grand-daughters, these are my mum's 1st. At least my mum makes an effort!!!! his mum never visits, then would moan about getting her place on the day... then fall out with u if she didn't get it (past history with dh's sister's babies) nightmare....

So sorry RANT OVER!! lol

Hope u all have a good wkend. My dad is gonna tile my bathroom floor, so I'm off out to have toilet access!!! lol (My parents).

My mil does my head in like no one else inglewood so I feel for you there. She booked her ticket to come over for six weeks this year dispite everything that was said last year. She forces herself on me whether I want it or not. It's like being emotionally raped - I have no choice.

I feel for you guys with the pain in the bum mil's, dp's mum is fine, she has her moments but on the whole she's lovely, but then I was good friends with dp 10 years before we got together so I already knew his family very well.

This weekends been quite chilled, we had a BBQ yesterday as the weathers been glorious! And it's set to stay for a little while :)
Been out spending money, not on Lily tho, needed a lawn mower and a washing line.
We are also looking at new beds, at the mo we have a divan which has been fine, but dp has broke his side, he doesn't sit down like any normal person he kinda jumps and has literally cracked it! So at the moment we are sleeping in a dip in the bed lol, even with a very expensive mattress you can still feel it.
I'm desperate for a chunky solid oak number but we shall see if I wangle it! Lol

Other than all that we've just been playing with puppies, walking the dog and playing out with ds2.

Inglewood it's a real shame your not in early for the section, have they said why it's not a morning one? Have you asked to change the time?

Just posting to say i'm still catching when I can up if not posting as much as usual. Don't wnat to get out of the loop.

Hey all x again i have failed to come on here much managed to reach an all time new low after DH got back - he was being a bit of a tit and I hadnt rested as in had a nap whilst he had his 'extra' day off I was feeling so tired and so low and I just lost it infront of him and the kids and probably half the neighbour hood heard too. Well i think he realised I am alot worse than he thought and he has ended up taking 3 days off work - this is the man who never has time off work and they cant open the shop without him so it was a BIG thing but totally needed. So I have had him helping me thank god and also my blood results back after waiting 2 wks for a test and I am anaemic and b12 deficient THANK GOD I am tired and I am depressed but this means i am not as mental as I feel and think i am x have injections booked for tuesday so hopefully i will kick in asap. I also have been assigned a fantastic MW who specialise with depression in pregnancy she also has amazing gender depression skills too so hopefully all this will help me at least get back to a state of coping yet again sorry i have just blabbed about myself x i willhopefully now be able to sort myself out and get back to being close to feeling like myself as much as poss i know it wont be a magic wand but at least i wont feel so totally out of control. Anyway must go DH had to work today and i am struggling big time feeling faint and ridiculously tired hoping ds3 will sleep now as i need to lie down!! Anyway much love

A friend of mines showed us a site for beds, but they just seem to be crazy cheap, if I knew what the quality was like it would really help me decide if I want to buy a bed there or not lol
The ones we like are Hampshire solid oak wood bed - solid oak wood bed, cheap solid oak wood bed, solid oak wood beds, cheap solid oal wood beds []
And Candyce white - white faux leather bed, cheap white faux leather bed, white faux bed []
The prices seem too good to be true but the feedback on their eBay and amazon sites are brilliant on the whole.

Charlie sorry you have had such a low point. Glad dh understands a bit more now. Glad you have a midwife you can talk to about your gd. I have no one I trust to confide in except dh. Luckily for me he does get it but he can't help.
